Price Advice 85 GT Mach One

What would be a good price or maybe a good trade for an 85 Mach One survivor. I even have the old tires that cam  with it. All original parts. It is in good condition. I have always wanted a Performer, would that be good trade? I guess I am trying to get a good idea of the value of this bike. Thanks for any help.

Performer would be a good trade for either side.

Re: Price Advice 85 GT Mach One

Personally I'd keep that nice looking bike and just buy a performer there's tons of them out there.

That would make the most sence. I was thinking he wanted the same era 85 Performer which is hard to get but if any Performer will do, then post 87 Performers are easier to get, 85 Mach Ones are not so easy.

Re: Price Advice 85 GT Mach One

Thanks, I think that I will keep it. I have had this one for 23 years...the greatest christmas present ever. I quess I wanted to get an idea of what I have. The guy at the bike shop made me feel bad for riding it and he told me that my kids should not ride it as well. I am lucky that I have two 85 Mach Ones. One more question. How do I know if it is an American frame? Thanks again guys. This has been a cool hobby.

Re: Price Advice 85 GT Mach One

Thanks Bryson,

On my chrome GT the serial number is on the dropout, "5X1161", my white 85 Mach One has this serial number on the BB, "G5H02292". I am just curious about the difference between the two.

Re: Price Advice 85 GT Mach One

Ones forein made and the other one with the rear dropout serial is a Japanese model I believe.

Matt, check this one out too.  http://www.bmxmuseum.com/forums/viewtop … 37&p=1
Look on page 5 under "bearzito" comment. Basically, if the serial # is on the rear dropouts it's made in Santa Ana, and if it's under the B/B it was made overseas.

Its more than that, Huntington beach and the old Japanese models also have the rear dropout serials. The ones made in Santa Ana have the M1 or other model abreviations. Other than that forein serials are on the bb.

Re: Price Advice 85 GT Mach One

Why? they are all about the same and where it was made means really nothing. I doubt your bike was made in Taiwan in 85.
