1982 Redline MX-III

Rockford 2008 2nd place 80s Race Bike

This is my actual childhood race bike. I sold this bike to a friend of mine to gather enough money for my first car. I regreted selling it so I asked him to sell it back to me and he declined. Bugged him for 20 years and finally I got it back for the same price I sold it for in 1987.....$200.00! I kept this bike so clean you could eat off it. My friend did not take as good of care of it and it needed to be restored.  This is my finished restore.  The component details are as follows:
Frame/Fork
1982 MX-III
Headset
Suntour head lock up / Tange MX-3 / Dirt Skirt
Bars
Redline STR Series

Awesome bike and perhaps an even better story.

Post up some more pics; I'm particularly interested in seeing the stem.

Can't wait to see it in a few weeks!

I'm not sure if it gets any better than this one.  I don't ever remember red xc-II cages... did you have them painted?

Re: 1982 Redline MX-III

Custom is the only way to go.  Otherwise you end up spending years looking for all the right RED bits which once put together as a group are all 13 different shades of red ano!  I rate it cool cool cool cool cool

Rockford was fixed. You should've gotten a Beyond Category Medal of honor.

Re: 1982 Redline MX-III

I dont know if it was "fixed". It was fun none the less. Like I said in my Thank You thread I had my prize before I even left my house. But thank you for the kind words. Just wait to see what I got planned for this year. smile
