RL-20 Save
My friend was going to toss this, and then remembered that I still ride these little bikes. Told me to take it or it was dumpster food. So I helped him out. I guess this is my first score. The mags are toast - I cleaned one up just to see what I had. Gave everything else a once-over and lubed the front end. Might be fun to ride someday.
I have no real knowledge of these, anyone feel like typing? thanks!

Re: RL-20 Save
Definitely a score if you enjoy Redline Prostylers. If you don't like Redlines then I am not so sure. Josh

Re: RL-20 Save
I'm a race guy, never owned a freestyle before. So I really don't know what I'm doing with this yet. If I had everything I'd just throw it together and ride it. Might have enough parts lying around, but it would look terrible

Re: RL-20 Save
I cleaned up the front - it was in the same shape as the rear. They're cracked, and the rear has some chunks missing.

Re: RL-20 Save
What makes it a freestyle bike? It doesn't look any different than a race frame to me.

Nice. Not a freestyle guy either, but it looks comfy. Build it up with race parts.

Re: RL-20 Save
nice. very . im sure someone on here would trade you some race forks for the freewheel style ones if you're not into fs and just want a rider. those mags do look pretty gone.

I happen to be a Redline freestyle guy .... To be exact.. That is an 85 RL20 Prostyler. Notice that it has a 5" flared headtube. That makes it an RL20. The fact that there is no black paint around the bottom bracket area and built in rear frame standers makes it an 85. I bet the serial starts w/ RE.
Blammo... what made this a freestyle bike is the fact that there is a coaster brake bracket on it. Many freestyle frames from that era had them. The large ovalized downtube also is a tell tale sign that it is a Redline freestyle frame. The race frames all had round tubes. These frames are very Similar to the PL20.. The forks on these bikes were also larger in diameter then the race forks >
Hope this helps .... Nice score by the way ...

An '86? Cool, thanks smokee. He wasn't sure, and I couldn't tell.

Re: RL-20 Save
prostylers look like race bikes to me. I'd throw some comp 3's, a race fork and some race forklifter bars on it.
Nice score!

Yes, it helps a lot, thanks! Serial starts with RD... same year? '85?

Re: RL-20 Save
Keep the f/f together! Race forks are over rated. I looked for those forks (yours) forever and finally just sold the near nos 86 frame i had.

Yes, still an 85 - the paint scheme indicates it. The RD serial makes it an early 85. NOPOSERS nailed it.
It's a score for sure, top of the line freestyler.

Re: RL-20 Save
Thinking of building this thing up as a race bike now. Store the forks... that way I could ride it. I'm not hoppin' on a FS bike at this age, never ridden one and I know I'd do something stupid and kill myself. How do ya think it would jump? Seems kinda heavy, idk.
