So who's the decal master?

Like if I sent you some pictures and measurements, you could be persuaded to do some up for me?
I know there are some awesome tutorials here, but I don't have the design software to do it.

And hopefully you're not looking at someone doing it for free. Also doing the artwork is different than providing the end result decals. Just hope you know that.

Re: So who's the decal master?

No I don't expect it for free. I've got two Murrays I'm re-doing, an X20 and a 24. I'll post some pics in a few. Is it possible to just work something up in word or power point and then take it to a printing place? Do those places print on sticker paper for you?

I have a real pair of "track certified" fork decals in yellow and a "team Murray Jeff bottema" down tube decal.

I have the software to make these up. I have been in contact with http://www.slikgraphics.com/ to make the graphics once the artwork is done. I am willing to give it a shot if you are. Let me know.

Re: So who's the decal master?

Mike and G3 thanks! I'm getting ready to powder my race cruiser white and what I want to do with the decals is as follows.

Head tube decal...change all of the black to blue.

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g3/budgolf/IMG_0767_zps8a7d0e2b.jpg

Down tube decal...keep blue line, black line just inside blue line - change to red
Word Murray - change to blue
Words Track Certified - change to red

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g3/budgolf/IMG_0768_zps9941fa65.jpg

chain stay decal... keep blue line, all black to red

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g3/budgolf/IMG_0769_zps30f9a7f6.jpg

X20 downtube decal...white letters with blue shadow instead of black

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g3/budgolf/IMG_0770_zpsce1b0d23.jpg

X20 fork decal.... yellow to white, shadow to red

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g3/budgolf/IMG_0771_zps8a96e407.jpg

So what do ya'll think? Difficult? Easy? Think it will look pretty cool?

Re: So who's the decal master?

Budgolf - Can you get us some overall dimensions for each sticker? I think that would be helpful. I see the headtube sicker is on a metallic background, but you mentioned that you are powder coating, what color do you want the background? Clear the the others?

Uh, herro! of course not for free. Just need to know what is required (beside money) to get this done.

If anyone can recreate the decals....I'm looking to redo both my X20r an X24r. budgolf I think its cool your trying to keep the decals to original spec but with color changes. I would like to see progress on your build. wink

Re: So who's the decal master?

Sure thing. I'l take exact measurements and post them tonight. in the meantime, I've been playing with power point a little bit. What do you guys think?

http://i52.photobucket.com/albums/g3/budgolf/Presentation1_zps1c6d5806.jpg

I'm sure it's not as good as what can be made with Illustrator, but I think it will look pretty cool on a white frame.

Re: So who's the decal master?

Interesting. I assume you want them to look as "stock" as possible? Meaning the font, size, and spacing are correct, just the colors have changed. Make the measurements to the outside of the clear sticker. I use my wife's sewing tape measure.

Re: So who's the decal master?

hey budgolf, i noticed your sig. dunno if youd be interested or not but i have an old murray frame you can have if you pay shipping. i dont know anything about it, no decals or anything. its just a frame. its kind of rough, no damage or dents, but the surface is a little pitted like it was outside for years. nothing some sanding and paint wont fix. it has the old thruster style dropouts. drop me a p.m. if your interested. i imagine shipping would be under $15.

Re: So who's the decal master?

I recreated my own Murray TRX decals by tracing them on the bike, scanning my traces and re-doing the line work in CAD. I added my colors by hatching closed figures, printed to PDF and had a local printer print the decals from the PDF. Came out butta!

I may be willing to take a stab at this for you but check with member wired, I know he had Murray decals cuz I bought my head tube decal from him.

Re: So who's the decal master?

So here is a start, as I haven't had time to get the other decals done yet. These are close, but still could use some tweaking to get them closer to the originals.
