1980 Mongoose Moosegoose

Big Old Candy Blue Moosegoose looptail, very rare before 1981

Got a Moose frame & fork as a (tall) kid.  Just as soon as I'd swapped all the parts over from my other bike, it was stolen.  Fast Forward 27 years... got the frame from the famous Moosegoose Nick, and added all the parts I'd had on mine.  And then added some "upgrade" parts from around 1983-84, which would have been about the time it would have taken me to save up for them as a kid. Tried to start with stock / available parts like the Tuff 1's, steel v-bars, Tioga locking headset, dirt skirt, circa 1980 (thanks also to Nick).  The black plastic saddle is a Viscount so old its stamped "Italy" on the underside.  Then add the best of later in the 80's with the bulldog brakes, Pro Neck II, Tuf Nek post clamp, Primo pedals...
Many thanks to a bunch of members here who supplied parts.

So cool.  I never did understand the design philosophy though.  Tall people need taller (not longer) frames?  You still end up with the bars in your lap.   BTW I don't think Bulldogs came out until about 88.  Cool build though.

Things I need: Peregrine pedals 9/16, black finned Mathauser pads with original hardware, early threaded S&M forks (chrome Cook Bros style), UGP Recession Panel.

The Moose is actually just a tad longer than a normal Mongoose. Also, BMX Products played with the geometery a little on these.

Re: 1980 Mongoose Moosegoose

Were any of these ever actually raced?

Re: 1980 Mongoose Moosegoose

These look so cool, but with how tall the frame is it'll trick your eyes into thinking you're looking at 16" wheels, not 20". Never seen one in person, but when I do, time to pull out the wallet. LMAO

Mongoose/Fusion aluminum bars in pro size. 14" GT Zoot Scoot, Dyno Pretzel Bars and Drain Pipe 22.2mm and Dyno Slammer forks.
I need these, so get at me please.
