Old school rebuild 1980 ST TROPEZ

well it seems ive caught the building bug this year  as this is 3rd build in a month. When I saw this bike for sale here it screamed rebuild me and the price was too good to pass up. its gonna be a stock resto but first these bars need to be fixed. my powder guy is gonna fill the hatched hole in and powder gloss black.

quick update on this bike. Just got it back from powder , did f/f in a red mettalic color.it screamed 80s to me and came out fantastic.added some old school knobbies to my refreshed tuffs. i like it!

quick question, anyone know why my axle bolts will only thread half way on and then get super tight?ive tried all different axle nuts and the axles arent cross threaded.

Re: Old school rebuild 1980 ST TROPEZ

Wow, is that looking old-school and sweet!  Those Tuffs and massive knobbies look wicked.  No idea about the axles, though.

Do the nuts you have thread all the way onto other axles?  You should be able to figure out which is the problem by using known good parts and ruling out one or the other.

Re: Old school rebuild 1980 ST TROPEZ

It's gotta be the rear axle then.  There must be something you're not seeing if they thread all the way onto the front.
