It probably been done before but I was messing around and did this

I was putting brakes on a good clean show bike today and was fixing to put some anodized cable ends on my cables, then realized that I did not have a good crimp tool.I then seen some JB weld across the room,so I mixed up a little bit and put on the cable end and then pushed the cable end on it.It looks great and holds well without crimping the cable end.probably been done before, but just thought I would pass the idea on..

I let my ends Frey.

I can not sit still. I have been tested for A.D.D. and A.D.H.D. and have neither. I don't need coffee, I just need a B.M.X. or surfboard to consistently ride and I'll be happy. smile

Re: It probably been done before but I was messing around and did this

I skip the end caps that are usually gonna fall off anyways, and solder my ends shut with a cigar lighter and plumbing solder. holds super strong, looks great, and makes removing old cables even easier.

What's the point of having a bike if you're not going to ride it?

Best tool I've used is a pair of dull wire cutters. Replicates the pattern used on pre-built bikes. But I still like to solder plan, no caps and no fraying.

Re: It probably been done before but I was messing around and did this

There's a spot on my cable cutters specifically for crimping cable ends. It works great.

Re: It probably been done before but I was messing around and did this

Having just gotten back into bikes recently an not knowing any better I had the idea to use heat shrink tubing and it seems to be holding up.

I need to pick up some ends, theyre cheap enough. BITD I would just let them fray and struggle putting stuff back together.
I do like the glue gun idea though. big_smile

Soldering the end of the cable always works good for me. I just smash part of the cable ends flat with pliers the poor people way tongue
