Brackens Reference/Knowledge

I am hoping to find as much info about Brackens bicycles. I searched several places on this site, but was unable to get any real information about them; therefore, I am asking any and everyone who have more detailed reference materials/knowledge to please share it.

Below are some information I was able to collect from different members and sites. If you have more information, please include it.

Re: Brackens Reference/Knowledge

Serial Numbers: Still in Progress
There are Brackens out there that DO NOT have serial numbers.
Per another member...the story goes Tommy had a bunch of frames made and payment was never made so they sat at the bike builders place non stamped. after some time the builder sold them off in raw form for the bike shops to have finished. so you never know what color they may come in mine is Black.

Re: Brackens Reference/Knowledge

Not a lot of info out there, but here's what I've found.

The first gens didn't have the chain stay gussets and are mid 80's. 84, 85ish
The serial numbers were not date coded so you can only get a best guess as to the years
Serials starting with X are late 80's to early 90's and were welded up by Tommy himself.

I'm sure someone will chime in and correct me if I'm wrong. I did see a thread once that said who else manufactured them.
