Try riding one before you open your mouth.

22 is as much of a gimmick as any other wheel size.

heh hehh, now be nice. it's just that some of us have been into 22"s for a while, and the same questions keep coming up... but whatever, it's still new, so that's alright. we'll try to keep reporting back.
my deal is that 22"s just replaced 20"s. i still love bmx or mtbmx 24" and bmx/mtb 26". and i've even been riding xc 29" lately (for the first time ever, actually) just to stay in shape. but 20"s.... sorry just done with em. i loved them for so long, and I still love watching them, but to me, 22" is simply a 20" that fits. If a person is happy with a 20" bike fit, that's perfectly fine.
But if you've been, like, man, this 20" feels awkward and hard to ride, maybe I'm just old/too tall/whatever... then def consider trying a 22". even when i was in college (mid 90's) i was searching for a better fit bike. i was riding 20" and 24" in the same day, with them both in my truck. IF ONLY, 22"s were out 15 years ago !!! Even shorter riders dig 22". It's just basic physics that a slightly larger wheel rolls over bumps easier. Yet, you maintain the small/nimble bike aspect.

Nice. One of my favorite bikes on this site right now. I'm going to build one that looks similar, but yours is sick.

You know I never really said more than hi and introduced myself. The rest of the time I was trying to either directly follow him or get into a train. I must have followed him through these jumps 20 times! I am still sore this morning.
This was last night @ midnight!

Cat's dig 'em.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine. My signature is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life. My signature, without me, is useless. Without my signature, I am useless.
Would love to acquire a Sunn B-Mix 26.

Re: 22's Go Here
I totally forgot about this one. It is a 20" Holmes that was fabricated by fellow member ErikV to run 22" wheels on. I still have this frame in a box in my garage. it rode really well, but had close to a 13" BB height in the end.
It's hiding behind my old 24" DB in the above pic.

Today Rick Moliterno, Stomp'in Stu, Chris Doyle and Jeremy Ball were at RaysMTB. Stu was the only one I got a chance to really talk and ride with for any length of time. Stu told me he thinks BMX racing should be on 22" wheels. He is the first person I have met face to face that remembers the handful of 22" wheels bikes back around 1983.
Doyle and Ball... they come out all of the time so hopefully when the time is right I can get them to give a 22" wheel BMX a try.

Remember the BMX Plus article about the Aerolite 22" from January 1983 they were talking to Stu as well. !!
