No doubt they're great arent they. The season is just getting started around here. A few more nice warm days and they'll be everywhere.

Nice!! I've been hunting these every year since I was a little kid. They should be popping up around here later this week. We just need it to warm up. Winter still seems to have a grip on us. roll

Nice! I grew up in morel country. Always easy to find out the back door. We deep fry them in beer batter. Awesome flavored shroom for sure!  Don't eat to many you'll get the squirts! lolwink

I'm always looking for early Mongoose frames with the lower gusset, 75-76 or early 77. And anything Ashtabula!!!
ALWAYS LOOKING FOR OG SCRAMBLERS.
SEARCHING FOR A PRE-1983 SCHWINN SCRAMBLER THAT WAS PURCHASED FROM THE OUTDOOR STORE IN RED WING,MN THAT STILL HAS THE OUTDOOR STORE STICKER ON IT. ANY COLOR COMBO WILL DO.

A lot , here in Indiana , there not for sale , I've never heard of any growers of Morel's , you have a couple week's to go find them in the wood's . I was mowing a yard once , and found 1 mushy , it was the biggest Morell mushy ever , like 10 inches tall . It was right up next to the house in a landscaped bed (it was the only one there) . I looked at it for a few , and left it !
When you go pick those , your supposed to collect them in an orange bag (net bag), and when you put them in your bag , shake it , the spore's fall out , and there will be more next year !   roll   big_smile

Your right. Look on the counter in my pic and you can see my camo one. Lots of people don't know this and they say some areas are not producing like they used to due to people using plastic sacks.

Re: Morel Mushrooms - Who here hunts these?

Nice Score!!!! With our Canadian climate out very limited Morel season only spans the month of June. I got a good haul last year the weekend of June 19th and they were HUGE, most of them the size of my fist or larger. Campifire cream of mushroom soup with morels or bacon cheddar and morel burgers grilled on the fire can't be beat.

Are you familiar with Lactarious Deliscious? Fairly bright orange and they bruise and discolor to a blue/green after picked/cut.

http://i1212.photobucket.com/albums/cc442/kurt_rad/Lactarius_salmonicolor.jpg

IMO they rival Morels as one of the best wild edibles.  They are in season August and early September here.

My mouth is watering already...

Re: Morel Mushrooms - Who here hunts these?

One of my neighbors made the mistake of telling me that he bought a starter kit and put in a section that is about 6'x6'. They take a couple of years to get started, but once they pop up I see a covert mission in my future.

My family is European and I have been passed on a fairly healthy knowledge of mushrooms. It is definitely you don't want to mess with unless you are 100% sure. One wrong move and you could be either a gonner, violently ill or high out of you mind...
