Call me dumb but...
Im gonna race my Murray X24 quite a bit in the cruiser class this year. And yes, it's going to be awesome. Since this thing is a tank already, can some one recommend some really light forks that will fit? I swear the stock forks weigh 4 pounds. Any other ideas for light weight parts? What about headsets? i think this thing has come crazy off size. Im going to fill it with race part awesomeness. It's going to be the biggest waste of money anyone has ever seen!
But its STILL gonna be cool
Looking for Team Murray memorabilia, and Team Murray X24 and X24c bikes and parts.

The best insult ever and, I say it often is, "Who is this clown?" because, 1. You're calling them a clown 2. You're saying they're not even a well known clown.

Re: Call me dumb but...
I wouldn't race that my man. I don't think you're dumb but awful geometry and heavy mild steel. If you're going to tool around in the track that's cool but to actually compete, don't bother.

It is hi tensile steel, not mild steel. Mild steel would fold.

Re: Call me dumb but...
I think it's noble of you to want to race it, but I bet by mid-season you will want/ have a new school ride.
The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout "save us"...
And I'll look down and whisper "no".

Re: Call me dumb but...
People that think old school isnt competative against new school product must not go to the track much. I see quite a bit of old school stuff out there and they're quite competative. Aluminum and a 2 degree difference in your headtube angle isn't the be all end all if you can actually ride. I'm not talking about trying out for the Olympic team for cryin out loud. I'm gonna put her up against a bunch of guys my age at a local track. Heck, most of them out weigh me by 40 pounds. It's about doing something different and having fun, instead of just buying a Redline or Supercross like everyone else. body casts and broken bones aside, I'm sure it will be just fine.
Being different and having fun used to be what BMX was all about. Some of you are getting OLD!!!!!

Re: Call me dumb but...
i say go for it!! sounds like fun!! its often more about the rider than the bike!
Well if you still don't believe you best get up and leave
Do what you must do, but this ain't the place for you
Kuwahara, its the best!!
When I'm dead, i'll stop riding bikes.

I was gonna suggest this... it'll probably be a lot easier for the rider to drop 5lbs than the bike.

Re: Call me dumb but...
It's actually not as heavy as I thought. I just weighed it and was figuring between 35 and 40 pounds. It's 29.2 as it sits right now. Still heavy, but I'll get it down some.
