Re: What is YOUR holy grail??

I have a number of bikes and f/fs that reeeeally love, but I suppose my definition of a true grail is a bike that you fell in love the FIRST time you ever saw it and you would behave irrationally to get it.  Mine are:

1. Mid School Profile 24" -- Have x2
2. 2003 Kappa Adidas 24" -- Missed a shot back in 2011

Re: What is YOUR holy grail??

Darryl Youngs 79 Round top PK frame

I purchased this several months back via a known long time collector who in tern purchased it from the man himself
It was repainted baby blue by a previous owner but it should be red..I hope to paint it red some time this year

If any one has any reference pics of DY riding this frame BITD please forward them to me
Anyway it has a very unique serial on the BB
Please note this was built from spare parts for fun

Also i scored this very early Cook Bros frame #32
I think its one of the earliest around

Re: What is YOUR holy grail??

1986 Haro Master, Green and Chrome.  I had one and got mugged.  It was the one that got away and I didn't get the chance to ride it until it broke.  If I got another I'd totally build it up again and ride it into the ground.

ride your bike until it breaks.

Re: What is YOUR holy grail??

My grail when I was a kid was an '87 Mongoose Decade - blue/white. I have one but it was an all white one that I resto'd. Now I have to keep looking for the blue one big_smile

based on this definition, mine is the 1981 jmc black shadow.
i was buying a gjs seat clamp, and there it was hanging on the wall behind the counter in all its shiny black glory!!
by this time i knew there was no santa claus, so i hounded my parent relentlessly to get me the set for christmas, i have had a few jmc bikes through the years, but the black with white lettering black shadow is the one!!

Any American made frame from that era if put together with thought IMO is. Especially with platforms. I'd like to see some street thrasher big daddy's built up. The only thing that will make mine remotely flatland is that it will have a freecoaster

Re: What is YOUR holy grail??

I would like to get Back the Cooks Bros frame with Ashtabula forks  I threw in the trash with a Dan Gurney Eagle  frame and  redlinefork. but that woud be just for bragiing rights at bike shows.neutral I threw them out because I just coud not fit my self on the frames. I got to old I guess?

but as for holy Grail riders I want a GT alloy SHOW. I think the just look cool and love the new one I test drove back in the 90's
