1980 Coast Wheels 26

Unique 3 Bar cruiser that appears to have only been made for 1 year.

I've been looking for this Coast Wheels cruiser since I started collecting back in 2005. Thanks to a good friend Joe Buffardi for passing along his find to me. These appear to have only been made for 1 year, judging by the few magazine ads that have surfaced. Coast Wheels was a Bike shop owned by Roger Worsham in the late 70's and in 1980 he started CW Racing, (Custom Works). This is about the time that he sold Coast Wheels to Andy Zirzow's dad. Not much is known about Coast Wheels after that.

Re: 1980 Coast Wheels 26

I know. Your's seems to be the only one. Id kill to see a 20" frame surface but have yet to see one or anyone who knows of one.

Re: 1980 Coast Wheels 26

Interesting thing to me is...the catalog states they made a ladies cruiser, which I'm curious to see. Since the rear end of the mens frames are identical to a Bassett, I wonder if the ladies Coast Wheels would resemble a ladies Bassett without the welded badge on the down tube?

Re: 1980 Coast Wheels 26

Brian, I'd love to see one of the 20" frames also and to see if they resemble any other frames.

Ryan, I bet might look a lot like the Bassett ladies frame. There's only so much the frame builders can do to make them different. Seems like most of the ladies bikes from back then look real similar.

Thanks Saskbmx! smile

Re: 1980 Coast Wheels 26

The 20" frame resembles an early CBR
