Most if the fonts that were used back then are avaliable for free now a days. The rest of it is hand tracing in a vector program like InkScape or AI.

Auto-Tracing never works well... It's not even a good starting point.

Just import a scan as a bg layer, then use the Bezier/Line tool (and a ton of patience) and go to town.

Mefisto, is a very good friend of mines he uses Coral Draw

I trace all of mines free hand it takes longer but mush more accurate as I have been doing this for a while now.

I have all of these to trace and after the summer got two more boxs of decals under my bed...

Yep I never use live trace.  AI, Inkscape, Vector Magic and trial and error.

Andy I'll shoot you an email later this weekend

The reason for the quote 8 months ago was because looking at the screen shots, it looks auto-traced to me.
Uh, I never said I did at all either BUT I have downloaded Mefisto's work before it was taken down and can tell it some was auto traced, not drawn by hand. And after some early back n forth with Ghost Rider, I've seen a file of his which is guaranteed auto-traced as well. I also use AI & PSD professionally for 20+ years now and can tell the difference between by hand and auto-traced.

Wagon - You've seen a file of mine that was autotraced?  Anything I have done is 100% not autotraced.  I have to ask which file of mine are you referring to?

Don't quote my reponse in your reply,

My comment was towards the program, and not towards the tracing.

Re: Show us your MEFISTO thread repops!

heellooooo, hellooo
i use some vector tracing over some logos when i need a BASE TO START WITH
then..re-made/clean/delete almost everything and every node, o re-draw it over
need a base because i sux drawing from scratch

one of those was the MotoMag logo..with the Mongoose on it
..that i never finished the drawing, u can see that, the file is there yet, and its obvious is a vector from.
dont remember wich other logos, on that file was a lot of logos, now are more
some are easier, some harder, some were made in hours, some in mins

the thing is..
i dont care if i use my hands, a waicon, or paying a real designer to get it done
the important to me is getting the logos GOOD ENOUGH for me

i had to learn how to do it because i need it, like my english
im not a designer
im not a photoshoper or Illustrato..ter
i just care about the Good Details

Re: Show us your MEFISTO thread repops!

Haven't had a lot of time to devote to working on art but i did get another 2 sets of my 95 master done - on clear with white back.  not too bad, not perfect either (then again nothing is!) next pass i do i'll actually do the metallic gold.

Re: Show us your MEFISTO thread repops!

I've got a bunch of orig. stuff to add to this, just gotta dig it up. The best auto trace program is ImagaroZ if that's your thing. I do everything from scratch in Corel. (and let's not turn this into a Corel vs. Illustrator debate please!)

I like to wear sneakers on my hands because it's much better when you crash - and if you're wearing sneakers on your hands, you're gonna crash.

Here's Haro Master 1993 decals I drew recently. The 94s are just a different color breakdown. I haven't had a chance to get them printed yet though.
