2008 KGB Palmero

Bridging the gap from Mid to New school

Was looking for one of these for a while - not following the current flatland trends, I liked it when flatland bikes had a distinct look, plus I was wanting to try something with a lower standover. Most of the parts came from my now retired Quamen, so there wasn't much that wasn't used on this bike except the forks, seat and headset. Did some customization to the bars (I like 1" and the KHE's were too narrow for me) by adding a tube to extend the overall width by 2 1/4" and increase the grip tube area to 1 1/8".
**Updated 6/13/13**
New forks, cranks, sprocket, tires, modified the bars again! I was cramped with the bars paralell to the steerer tube, so they got modded even more by cutting them off and angling them forward 12º. Also heard that you couldn't run a Swiss Miss bar with the Space 2 forks and a gyro because of the short steerer tub - proved that theory wrong with a minor modification to the top gyro plate.
**Updated 10/4/13**
Rebuilt the wheels with a matching set of Super 7X's, stainless double butted spokes & blue alloy nips; switched the pegs to Tree Balsas, and finally replaced the Nate Hansen grips that I've been using since about 2001 with a new pair of Primo Classics (which are the same) Jest need to make plugs for the bar extenders so I can run bar ends and I'm good!

That's nice, I also like the bikes with the weird frames, gives them character

It fell all by its self

Re: 2008 KGB Palmero

Update on my bike...

Modded the bars further by having them cut off of the stem and rewelded angled 12° forward so the bars are at the usual 3° back from vertical that I would usually run. The bars being parallel to the steerer tube was just too cramped for me. Also swapped out the cranks and sprocket/driver and got it down to 24 1/2 lbs.

Also found a pic of the bike from its original owner before I got a hold of it...

Not exactly my first choice of colors.

Re: 2008 KGB Palmero

Thanks, bro! Your Morales was pretty sweet too-great balance, even for a heavy bike.
