Re: Rare Old School Freestyle builds Thread! Let's see'em!

I got three bikes that I believe meet the criteria:

1985 ELF prototype, OG Paint and decals (what's left anyway)

1985 GJS Freestyle OG paint and decals (had some white paint touched up by the previous owner on rear triangle)

1984 Trick Star ( I know you're probably saying nothing rare about an 84 TS, but this one has no rear standers and no fork pegs. OG chrome and decals, except the NOS fork decals and a NOS coin decal was used to replace the missing ones.)
If you know of another og finish TS frame w/ no standers, please bring it to light.
Enjoy

Re: Rare Old School Freestyle builds Thread! Let's see'em!

Ooh, nice!  I'm not sure what that ramp was originally built for but with a coaster brake and a spare hour i could work it so properly it'd forget its name and sleep in the wet spot with no complaints...

Clearly I miss my trick ramp...

I built the ramp as the centerpiece for the skater kids in my development about four-five years ago. We were going to use this to attach a fun box, and rails or somthing. The kids never used it, so I put it in my driveway last year. it's friggin solid, and would make a nice little landing ramp. If any locals want it LMK.

Not trying to high jack the thread (I don't have shlt to share) but is it true that Robinson put out a freestyle bike?  I've seen the one submitted recently but can't believe it. Do you know the history behind it?  ..It must have driven Chuck Robinson (RIP) insane, had to have been GT's idea.

I mentioned this before, but Robinson never made a freestyle bike. I have no other way to prove this but my story: Back around 1991 a local bike shop had a blue or pink (I don't remember) 1986 Robinson freestyler for sale since 1986, and it still had the 1986 price tag on it. I remember reading a Chuck Robinson interview in a magazine years before and I remember him saying he was not a fan of freestyle, and Robinson will always be a race-only company. So I called GT (remember this was 1991-92) and asked to speak with Chuck Robinson (who happened to be the Powerlite team manager at the time) and asked him about the Robinson freestyle bike. He said Robinson never made a freestyle bike, and he knew of two different companies making fake Robinsons. I'm pretty sure he said Tracker and Trackmaster were the companies. Either way the "Robinson" freestyle bike is pretty cool, and the two different frames helps explain the two diff. companies. Unfortunately we may never know the whole story behind them. RIP Chuck.
