1983 Jamis Boss Cruiser 26

My first Cruiser - Rare Find!

1983 Boss Cruiser by Jamis.  Found this one at the Rockford BMX event in 2012.  My original intention was to make this a "Wanna Be" Koss Kruiser but now I am undecided.  Has many similar features to the Kos  including looptail design and overall size.  However the frame tube angle and dropouts are much different.   I have changed the bars, grips and seat and removed the original chain guard.  Time will decide what I do with this one!
UPDATE:  I decided to take this wanna be Kos to the next level.  I added my own custom decals to make this a one of a kind Boss Kruiser.  This has become one of my main riders.  Great bike!

Earth Cruisers came out in '79, Boss Cruisers came out in 1980.  Company was bought out by GJC in 1990.  Old cruisers seem to be not all that common although new models are still made.  Their website has some info, jamisbikes.com.  I found a 1984 Earth Cruiser for my wife, complete and original and it cleaned up pretty nice, just grips and tires were not salvageable.  I'm currently gathering parts for a 1983 Earth Cruiser frame and fork that I found for me.

Re: 1983 Jamis Boss Cruiser 26

court case on the design . Ross Diamond Cruiser vs Jamis Boss Cruiser. has some detail on how Jamis developed the Boss Cruiser -

https://bulk.resource.org/courts.gov/c/ … -3354.html

I just picked up a Ross Diamond Cruiser - haha.

East Coast Cycles and Imports, Inc., was incorporated in Florida in August of 1975. The owner, Ronald E. Jamis, entered the bicycle business in 1973. In 1979 Jamis entered the cruiser bicycle market with their  "Earth Cruiser" - A BMX Cruiser model, sold by retailers mainly in Florida and neighboring states. According to the Jamis wbsite, the 1979 Earth Cruiser was “a re-designed & re-engineered no-longer-classic-now-revolutionary cantilever cruiser that mixes equal parts fun & fashion and spurred the whole beach cruiser movement.†

Here's my restore on an Earth Cruiser http://www.ratrodbikes.com/forum/viewto … er#p636326

Made some changes to my  "Wanna Be" Koss Kruiser!   Check out the "NONGOOSE" fork stickers.
