THE MOST VALUABLE BMX IN THE WORLD

hello chaps
im sure this must have been brought up before but was dreaming of gleaming nos parts and peices i would like to have in my small collection
and got to wondering what would be or has been so far the most valuable COMPLETE bmx to sell.......lets hear some opinions and some known prices
please........my personal view on the most valuable bike would be the actual kuwahara used to film ET.....this would probably come up in a film memerobilia auction rather than on a bmx site but even so seeing a redline on ebay a few years ago that was used by someone famous or was in a film (i cant remeber the exact story) got to $10,000 unsold as the seller wanted $25,000 .....so elliots bike would make well in excess of this not so famous redline

Redline RL-20II from the movie RAD $40,000.00

http://www.knt2000scustoms.com/vintage/Rockford05/Rock002.jpg

Next up I would say Woody Itson's gold Trickstar

Third would propbably be the gold plated RL-20II on display at Redline headquarters.

I doubt the 3rd one would even rank that high.

Did the RL22 from the movie sell for 40K?

Re: THE MOST VALUABLE BMX IN THE WORLD

I read somewhere, that the RAD movie bike, was traded straight up for the gold RL-20II.   I also read that the bike is insured for $40k.  So that puts them up at around the same value, at least to Redline Corp.

I remember that,  might have even been a thread here about it. Also pretty sure it didn't sell.

Re: THE MOST VALUABLE BMX IN THE WORLD

the redline from the movie rad is the one i was talking about in the first post.....i remember him asking for 25k but the bidding went to 10k

is a first edition skyway 24inch really worth 15k..???....i suppose the cruisers are rarer than a bmx

ide still love to see what the et kuwi from the film would fetch.....does it still exist in a dusty film store room..????

et was a mutch bigger film than RAD so surely the bike from it would be far more valuable, definatly well into 5 figures

Re: THE MOST VALUABLE BMX IN THE WORLD

I watched that RAD RL-20II fairly closely.  I recall it going to $20k, but I could be wrong?  I looked for the link on this site, didn't find it.

Re: THE MOST VALUABLE BMX IN THE WORLD

funnily enough the ripper that was up for 20k on the bay last year comes from a muppet who has ripped off alot of peaople on here with selling overpriced items and then not sending them until they pay hidden axtra postage and other little piss takes....his shop goes by the name of vert-ego so the unsold ripper cant really be called a 20k bike

Re: THE MOST VALUABLE BMX IN THE WORLD

Anyone remember what the STR1 prototype DIDNT sell for? $10 000. mind you that was a couple years ago now, and was handled like shitt, but....

http://i70.photobucket.com/albums/i106/evilt72/STRI.jpg

For the record, that yellow RAD bike, the only original parts were the frame, fork, and bars. Sold for 10, 000.

Re: THE MOST VALUABLE BMX IN THE WORLD

just found a thing on planet bmx about the skyway 24s and it is rumoured that only 12 were made for the factory riders....that would go for big money
if one were to surface being sold by the original factory owner im sure
