Re: A gentlemans chat. Topic #1

Never liked them. I don't like the look of any tensioner and prefer the old style, cheap-o ones if I had to use one.

I just tighten my hubs tight. I do find my wheel eventually slips a bit on my powder coated frame more than my chrome frames.

They are star shaped.... and provide chain tension. There we go.

I had to use Redline tensioners as that is all the shops carried around me. I needed them immediately so waiting was not an option.

Personally never understood the whole chain tensioner thing. I tighten my axle nuts, and have never had a wheel slip. But I may Rock some Star ones!

Got Bulletproofs on my Robinson and like 'em.

Bill, I love the RLs because you only need to tighten one bolt, and there's a stop on them that takes the place of bolts digging into the dropout ends.  Just threw a set on my Skyway two days ago for a mere 10 bucks, and wouldn't trade them for any other tensioners.

yea i might have to get some for this one bike im building i might sand them down and repaint them tho.

to the one member who said they dont understand the whole tensioner thing first off it saves your dropouts from getting marks second they prevent the chain from getting loose which sucks when you're out and about with no tools.

Dan, I wasn't gonna say anything, but I've got two sets of Profiles.  I must admit that I'm not that happy with them.  Two bolts are as simple for adjusting as one bolt (RL), and those mothers dig into my dropouts.  That being said, they need to stay on my Profile(s) cuz that's where they belong.  Oh well...

The star ones look cheesy. I never remember seeing them back in the early 80's.
