That's a killer set. The '57 Bel Air theme is pretty badass.
I've been wanting a Gretsch Catalina Club jazz kit for awhile.

What Sabians will you be getting?

Re: Anyone play drums?

Very cool on the XS20s. Good cymbals for a good price.

Is this your first kit?

Re: Anyone play drums?

Ya, I didnt want to get a half assed set, and have to upgrade. If I play these and dont care for em, I can still get a decent return via resale. If I like em, i'm good for a long time.

Re: Anyone play drums?

My 9 year old has a 5 piece Peace set. He has had them for around two years. He plays them only occasionally but he's young and into everything. I will post some Pics of him rocking soon.

You're right. The finish is classy & the shells are maple. If you like them, you have a killer kit. If you don't like them, you will not have a problem selling them because of the finish & maple shells.

Do you know what drum heads are coming with the kit? The reason I ask is that some complete kits come with mediocre heads. If they are mediocre, replace them asap and tune them up. If you don't know how to tune drums, youtube it. Switching heads & properly tuning them will make a huge difference.

I've seen many beginning drummers want to quit or buy a new kit because their drums sound like ass. But all they really needed to do was switch the heads & tune them up.

If you don't know about which drumheads to get, the big name brands have great info on their websites. The big names are: Remo, Evans, and Aquarian. I go back and forth between Evans & Aquarian. Just remember that buying drumheads is like buying grips & pedals. It's all about personal feel & preference. It can take a long, long time to find the right drumhead for your taste & style.

Man...I could go on and on. If you need any help or advice or have any questions, definitely PM me. I will be more than willing to help out as best I can.

That dude you bought it from was a sucker. I've learned that never sell a kit unless you have a backup. Saying "I'll buy another one soon." hardly ever happens. And when it does "soon" is actually years.

BTW...How's that Marshall Mini Stack? I've always wanted one.

It's a nice little amp. I think I got it for 130 bucks, hooked up a processor to it and it sounds awesome. All the way to the left is a old ass Ampeg from the 60's, now that thing is sweet. cool

Ampegs are great amps. Plus, you gotta love old vintage gear. Old music gear has a lot of soul to them.

Re: Anyone play drums?

I gotta drywall the basement this winter and throw carpet down and they will be down there, with the upright and guitar.

Sounds perfect. You should look into those things they put between the drywall and the studs for sound proofing... my brother built them into sound rooms and studios, they're the sh1t... i dunno what they're called though hmm tongue

I wanna see the angle of the toms, snare, and floor tom. Also the cymbals. Everything makes a difference.
