1992 Haro Ground Master
1992 Haro Ground Master
My actual bike from late 91-94 & My current Daily Rider
This was my actual Bike that I rode back in the day - and learned most of my tricks on.... it's been with me since 91 - and I beat the crap out of it for years. I always loved the geometry - so I decided to resurrect it for a daily rider this year 2007....
I rode this thing everywhere - on ramps - street and especially flatland. From all the love and abuse over the years..... It has some issues, a crack near the brake bridge surfaced.. I had it welded back in like 1994.... it's clean enough weld though (thanks dad).... But now a crack through the top tube caused me to hang it up.
At some point, I decided to give the bike some new skin and rebuild. A 1987 Haro theme.. since it's a very similar frame - just lacking the built-in framestanders. I gave it a home grown paint job - Toothpaste Green and Black (which chipped off of the top tube the more I put my feet on it... ) Doesn't matter, this bike is a total thrasher.
It's far from perfect..... but this bike was a trooper - and a great ride....

Re: 1992 Haro Ground Master
By your description it sounded like a peice of crap but from looking at the pictures I actually think it's pretty sweet. And the fact that it was your BITD bike makes it that much better.
Damn I love the old Masters, can't wait till spring to get some color on my 85.

Re: 1992 Haro Ground Master
Thanks kmpap
You know the "Master" sickness as well as I do... I had to give it a good effort to bring this one back to life... I'm glad I did.
Now I just need it to get warm out to I can really use it like I did before.

Re: 1992 Haro Ground Master
i really wish they'd made more of these, can't seem to get my hands on one! you should re weld the crack then sand blast the chrome off the front 2/3's before repainting it, the paint will stick much better than it did before. KEEP IT ALIVE!
"This should be a no brainer guys. If you think the wife would disagree with the bike/price tell her "Honey, I bought this for you. I LUUVVVV you...". And then proceed to put it with your other bikes and tell her she can never ride it. lol"

Re: 1992 Haro Ground Master
Where did you find the Chrome Kneesaver 2k's? I would blow up a aschool for a pair. They have become my fav bars.

Woah.. craziness.
No need to blow up anything.. Those bars show up for sale all the time on this site. Mostly in Black, But I've seen them in Chrome too. And cheap. since people don't seem to care about those bars because they're not original Kneesavers. I like the look of them, very early 90's style. And Boy are those 2K bars comfortable. I cut about 3/4" inch off of each side of these bars. and they're right where they should be for flatland and street.

Re: 1992 Haro Ground Master
I just scored a chrome pair off of the bay. I probably paid too much but I wanted them.
First chrome ones I ever saw in person!

I think this bike - and it's owner / rider - are becoming something of a site cult-figure!
