1979 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

A "Roundtop" P.K. Ripper with original Baby Blue paint and stickers. One of three (Original in paint) that are known to exist.

Well here it is! It wasn't easy to buy this bike, let me tell you. The seller was nice to deal with, but had no track record to speak of either on eBay or Paypal, and here on the museum. It took me a month to buy this bike and a lot of bullsh*t but in the end, I love the bike and it was all worth it. Well kind of... lol... Anyway, I used most of the original parts that came with the bike and the rest I found here on the museum to make this bike as authentic as possible. Thanks to all the people who helped me with parts. It's still not done (I realize some of the parts are a little later) but its close enough... In the spirit of that entertaining thread that revealed this beauty, I have decided to name it the "The Catchall Roundtop P.K.". I hope you like it!

Parts List:
Frame - 1979 P.K. Ripper "Roundtop" with original paint and stickersFork - Tange forks Original finish Rims - Araya 7b's Original FinishHubs - Sunshine Stamped '78Cranks - Campagnolo original FinishSeat Post - S.E. Troxel Seat - Shotgun 1Seat Clamp - Dia CompeBreaks - Dia Compe 1000'sBreak Pads - Skyway Break Pads (My pads from when I was racing my PK as a kid) I found them in grandma's basement and that's what started this whole obsession. Stem - Tuff-Neck Patent PendingBars - SE Racing original FinishGrips - Oakley 1's originalPedals - KKT Lightning
By the way, I added the seat tube sticker as I happened to have one around and it looked great with the bike. I realize Pk Roundtops didn't have those. I just like it and I don't care.

Take off that seat tube sticker homie.....or at least cut off the bottom part of the decal, its hurtin my SE Racing eyes! tongue

The parts are a good mix of years of SE goods, which is cool!

Glad to see you got the frame and it stayed here and not overseas!

Re: 1979 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

Yo Jon!
Did you notice that the seat post is upside down? I bought a defected nos seat post from some guy where they placed the stickers on wrong side up... Weird right? I thought it was kind of cool really... Matches the oddity of the prototype frame. That's why the sticker is so high into the seat...

You’re lucky to have one of those in that condition. Your hubs are awesome; classic.

Re: 1979 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

Wow, that's quite a find - origional baby blue paint and decals!!!  Incredible!     Looks like it went to a true Ripper fanatic, nice.   Definately worth going 100% 1979 with it on the parts/pads I reckon, looks GREAT so far though, classic colour scheme...looks like a racer - simple, light and fast...LOVE IT!
