2010 Porkchop Landrace 26

Late 70's inspired budget build.

I purchased this frame and fork set from a member on ratrodbikes.com for about 1/3 of the retail price for a Landrace frame/fork. I also bought the rear hub on sale, laced my own wheels, and found a lot of the parts laying around my garage. So this build ended up being surprisingly cheap, especially for a tri-bar 26er.
The first thing I did was strip the decals because they didn't go to well with the theme of the bike, and I didn't want it to look like just another Porkchop. But, it ended up being more difficult than I thought because the whole bike was covered in a clear coat, so there are still spots I need to touch up. Then I used Mother's to polish the rest of the residue off.
The wheels are just Alienation PBR rims that I unlaced. I tossed the stock hubs and laced up a nos Sunshine front hub and a Sram Automatix 2 speed coaster brake in the rear. I also took off the PBR stickers.
Recently I bought a Park Tool TS2 so I can save money building my own wheels and this happened to be my first set. And I'm proud of the results.
This bike turned out to be a great rider not only because of how much it cost me but also the Sram 2 speed. It's a lot like the Fichtel & Sachs Torpedo Automatics because it shifts automatically. Which can be annoying while pedaling up a hill but overall is a really cool feature. There's no cables for shifting or braking and it doesn't change gears when braking like a Bendix automatic.

Thanks. I was surprised by how light they turned out, and how smooth they roll.
I need to weigh the bike sometime soon.

All it takes is 1 moron to mess up the mood..

1 boogaloo, 2 boogaloo, 3 boogaloo...4.

I will take "no scapegoating, no smearing opponents, no pitting one against the other, no axe to grind, not an attention seeker, no culture war push, trying to be bipartisan and really help all Americans" for $500 Alex..
