That dude also makes plates for the regular forklifter bars, not just the freestyle version... looks kind of weird with the crossbar showing.

Yeah I know, I kept the straight bar on this back in the day because it made it easier to do the "surfer".  This combo came with the correct freestyle bars, I didnt want them, I swapped them out before paying for the chrome ones, the problem was they had no freestyle chrome bars at the shop, so I kept the race ones.   I had to opportunity back in the day to get the correct bars, my freind wanted to trade, but decided not to.  Now I do want them, but for now this will have to do.   I also kept the freestyle plate rather than the race plate because if doing the surfer, the flush plate gets in the way, or gets damaged/cracked from your feet.  I almost bought the correct plate this time since I will NOT be doing any surfers anymore...LOL but I am used to this look.

Headset on.....new Tiogo Beartrap IIs very poorly engineered.  The toothed washer is larger in diameter than the slot on the threaded race so even with the proper headset tools you cannot get the wrench on it.  Took some careful manipulating to get it tight.

Re: RL20II clean up...not quite resto

So tonight I was going to disassemble my Techmatic BB to clean and repack, but after reading the instructions I chickened out...they emphasized to punch out the seal with a blunt object very CAREFULLY...I dont know what they mean by that but I decided it was not worth the risk.

I wish that someone on this site would be more helpful, and not just be here to brag about what they bought and sell their junk.....rant off.

It's your bike man, but IMHO you're out of your mind putting touch up paint on that thing. It's like rubbing polishing compound on an antique.

You mean the way it was set-up originally?

Thats function, I dont like having the bars and seat that high up, but the rotor requires room.  A gyro looks ugly and damages the RL-20II frame due to the wrap around top tube.  In order to do tricks that you grab the bars and seat together it was required to raise the seat so that it is inline with the grips.

The chips stood out so much due to the chrome underneath.  Now they just about vanished.  They have touched up the Sistine chapel so I dont feel too bad about fixing up the Redline's paint.

Re: RL20II clean up...not quite resto

man i miss my RL-20.............my opinon on tires and grips.....if you ride enough they wear out quickly so no point in trying to match catalog specs or whatever..however i am a fan of ERA correct..but these days some of these parts are hard to find or expensive for something you might be replacing in a year or so if you ride enough so find what u like and use them.....PS those tires look bad as...good luck on the build

Re: RL20II clean up...not quite resto

Thanks for the encouragement guys.   Truth be told, I have been waiting for 27years for tires and grips that match so closely to the frame's paint.
