Found this frame on here cheap enough to give my "leftover" pile a home from my last build....

1988 OG Dyno Detour (Owner's Manual and Sales Receipt)

Deinotherium ("terrible beast" derived from Ancient Greek, deinos meaning "terrible", therion meaning "beast") was a large prehistoric relative of modern-day elephants that appeared in the Middle Miocene and survived until the Early Pleistocene.

Cool. Thinking bout dayglo lime for my detour at the top of this page.   Chrome is shot on mine though,  or I'd leave it.  Might just build it and keep it as my beater though,  keep wear off my USA slammers. smile

Finished up this 98 nitro for a buddy of mine, I was able to find all the necessary parts here on the board. He picked it up today and couldn't be happier.https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/270850/img_20200612_173432149_hdr5ee51e902d.jpg

Nitrous is like a hot chick with an STD, you want to hit it, but you're afraid of the consequences. Spray and pray.

Ok maybe I'm wrong but did 85/86 dyno completes come with a gyro? I didn't think they did.

Build your bikes the way you want. Always looking for 85/86 dyno but don't always have money for them.

From the box mine didn't. Here is how mine came, The only thing I may have added was the rear brake guard. Then again, maybe they threw that in as well because I don;t rcall buying it separately.

Does anyone know why dyno compe bars from the late 80’s to mid 90’s weren’t stamped with D?

Those compes aren't a full chromoly model...
I think chromo bars got the D stamp?

Which would have been the 85-88 compes?

In 87 the Compe got bumped to the entry level Dyno freestyler behind the D-tour and Pro Compe, both of which came with pretzel bars. I believe, like fiftyone50 said, the Compes and their bars from that point on aren't all chromoly so the bars aren't stamped. With the pretzel bars, the ones on the D-tours were also typically not stamped whereas the pretzel bars on the Pro Compes were as they were all chromoly. I think this carried on through the rest of the late 80's and early 90's models but from there I'm not too sure.
