Re: BMXMuseum<--->Newbie Guide<--->Pro Membership<--->How To's

New to the club, and don't want to faux pas.....Would it be rude to inquire about purchasing a member's bike (privately) that was not listed as for sale?
Also, one mistake I made already that new members may want to learn....I bought an item that was no longer for sale from the old for sale, before noticing the new listing style. May have caused someone some unnecessary aggrivation . oops.. my bad

Re: BMXMuseum<--->Newbie Guide<--->Pro Membership<--->How To's

My 2 cents on the "whats it worth?" (and 2 cents is about what my opinion is worth but....)
I think someone should be able to ask what something is worth, #1 only if they have actually done research trying and had no luck, and #2 only in a section that is for Pro member only. I thing this because how many times do people easily join the site after they found a bike, want a value, with intent to just ebay it and never to be heard of again! hmm
I know I've seen it...and i am pretty sure some of you might have too.

Re: BMXMuseum<--->Newbie Guide<--->Pro Membership<--->How To's

it boils down to if you "genuinley" want to know what something is worth, then you will RESEARCH said item YOURSELF..... Dont join a forum and then ask what its worth on your 1st post. sit on your lazy ass and read like the rest of us have. QUIT EXPECTING PEOPLE TO DO EVERYTHING FOR YOU

and this is just my opinion, but most of the members here are older, and from the the "do it yourself" era .... so quit askin for handouts tongue

The opinions and statements expressed herein are solely my own and not intended to malign any religion, ethnic group, club, organization, company, or individual nor do they represent the opinions of BMX MUSEUM.... i pretty much blame the alcohol , you should too

Re: BMXMuseum<--->Newbie Guide<--->Pro Membership<--->How To's

No offense brother but i think it's pretty funny that u don't want people asking what their bike is worth yet u have a footnote on ur page saying "need quick cash? I buy..." to me that says "I dont want anyone else to tell u what ur bikes worth because i want to try and lowball u for it" That's just my opinion, but what do i know, i'm just a girl...
Oh, and btw funny guys...taking ur crack to a crackhouse is EXACTLY how u could find out how much rock u were holding. U'd b a lame to ask just 1 crackhead; of course he ain't gonna give u the right price. He's gonna tell u "IT'S WORTH EXACTLY THE AMOUNT I JUST SO HAPPEN TO HAVE IN MY POCKET...but can i try it first?" LMFAO
Real talk tho, I think (not that anyone is asking me) that this would b an excellent place to get an appraisal, especially so u DON'T get gypped. The more knowledgeable heads, the less likely u r to trade that crackhead ur older bros vintage SKYWAY for 2 bucks so he can get back to the shelter before there's no bed space available...I'm just sayin'...

Re: BMXMuseum<--->Newbie Guide<--->Pro Membership<--->How To's

Which service is preferable for shipping f/f or complete bikes?  Curious about the rates.  Thinking of cutting loose some f/f's and completes I have and wondering what the best way to ship is.  Thanks in advance for the help.

Re: BMXMuseum<--->Newbie Guide<--->Pro Membership<--->How To's

Hi, I just joined and have a question.
I have a GT Vertigo that is all chrome and is completely original. Basically this bike is like the day it left the showroom. It is perfect and looks like it just came out of the box! It has not been restored, all original and like new. I believe it is a 1992 because the first two numbers in the serial # are 92. My question is how do I come up with a price for it and how should I sell it. It is truely in unbelievable condition. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

No it's not. I will be the first to say I ask a ton of questions (ask Christian) lol

The guys or girls here don't want to be bothered here with questions that with a little effort on your part can be found.  Just like anywhere else in this world, there are nice people here and there are jerks (very few in my experience) on this site.  I have met more people dedicated to this craft on this site than anywhere else.  Passion is the word that comes to mind.  The knowledge that some of these people have blows my mind.  Really.

Search the forums. Many people have posted tons of helpful links on "How-to's."  Use the site's knowledge.  There's a plethora of great ideas in here.

I don't really see the issue people have with the "how much is it worth threads".  I mean, if you dug your old bike out of storage, and wanted to know it's current value...going to a forum full of bmx collectors and asking isn't really the worst place to start.  It's probably the best place to ask actually.

Totally agree with *Racer* ! I mean, if your in this site its because you love the movement and the bikes! not because you wanna make some money from an old bike! .... When I was young I had an old DB with hang me down parts. probably worth a sack of potatoes to most of you, but it meat the world to me! so once again, lets not measure the respect these bikes deserve for how much money they're worth, but how much love we might have for them!!

Yes, it is nice to try helping people.
