1987 Haro Team Master

Well here she is, in her full glory!!! I finally finished it up yesterday. I would of had it done earlier but I decided to change up some stuff and use more year specific parts instead. For example, I decided to go with the 87'Nippon front brake and with the original bars. I bought new bars and stripped them and then had them rechromed and the lower half powder coated and put on new decals so the bars are NOS. I bought NOS fork standers as well. I brought the NOS Gyro cables in from England (Alans BMX). Cheaper than waiting for them on E-Bay. I think overall it turned out pretty nice. My old high school buddy hasn't seen it yet but I'm sure he'll dig it. I listed the parts I used below: 1987 Haro Master F/F fully restored W/NOS Forkstanders, YST restored headset w/new bearings, 1987 Haro Handlebars restored to NOS (new chrome, powder, and decals), NOS Ame' Tri Grips, 1664 Front Brake Cable, NOS Gyro upper and lower cables, NOS Dia Compe Tech 77 locking levers, 1987 Dia Compe Nippon restored front brake w/new hanger bolt and pads, NEW Dia Compe 990 rear brake, Haro Group 1 restored stem (new powder), 1" Gyro restored to NOS (new decal and powder), After Market Haro frame and fork decal kit, NOS Peregrine seat post clamp, NOS Peregrine seatpost, NEW Odyssey Mike Aitken Old School retro seat, 20 X 2.0 ACS True Tires, Peregrine HP-48's fully restored (new axles, bearings, spokes, decals), NEW ACS Claw rear 16T Freewheel, NOS Izumi blk/chrome chain, NOS Peregrine 44T Chainwheel, NEW Redline 401 Dual Pinch Sealed 180 Crankset W/NOS Redline Decals, NEW Odyssey Twisted plastic pedals. So I believe that's it. I'm not sure what to do with this bike now. I finished it and thought to myself...so that's it eh? I guess it's done. So now onto my 1987 Sport and then I will give it a rest for awhile.

Let me be the first to congratulate you - it looks fantastic!  I used to have one in that color scheme BITD, and loved it.  Still do - I especially like the white tires.  Great job!

You know what...yeah I think I'm going to ride both of them. I keep thinking how could I let it just sit around and collect dust. I'll have to take it out in the summer with my Sport when it's completed to show them off a little bit.

Thanks I appreciate that. It was hard waiting to get it done. Almost painfull waiting for the bars to be re-chromed. Now on to my 87' Sport...

Thanks. For being my first build/restoration I'm pretty happy with the overall turn out. Building it sure stretched my patience and I'm not one for being to patient but it was well worth the wait.

One word for that GT Tour...SOLID!!! It is one solid bike. Handles nice and is built like a tank. It's a little heavy but this bike is what prompted me to build my Fit S3. I like it a lot, it's real nice to boot around on.

Woah.. I was wondering about the bars.. that's awesome that you got them chromed.

was that pretty pricey?

Are those the Malaysian decals on there too?
and if so... where did the Handlebar Decals come from? AJK?

Amazing bike of course!
smile

I see you've utilized your own Peregrine decals gracefully smile

Yes they are Malaysian decals with handlebar decals from AJ.  The bars cost me $70.00 w/shipping from E-Bay and the chroming cost me another $75.00 and the decals were $15.00 w/shipping and my powder coater gave me the paint job for free!!!  So yeah the bars were expensive.  $160.00 total but worth it to have the real deal I guess. I guess over all it just increases the worth of the bike.

not for awhile, the decals are being made right now and then everything will be shipped up all at the same time.  I've almost got everything I need for it, but it still needs to be painted yet.  The paint might take awhile because how I do my frames a little differently.

If you had a picture of the FST downtube decal I could get you some made up no problem.  It would be easy for my guy to do.  It would cost you a bit of money though. He's getting back to me with a cost for decal kits.
