The Irie Yardie
A little about me:
Born in JA, W.I. and moved to the U.S. awhile ago. Been a member on the Museum since last year (2011) and for some reason, I CANNOT STOP building bikes. I am sure everyone on the site can agree with this. Nonetheless, I love bikes that are o.g., but I have a place in my heart for creativeness. I am currently working on 3 projects (feels like forever) - (1) Torker: Jamaica Theme, (2) Redline: Rasta Theme, and (3) RL20ii (period correct as possible).
As you can see in two of these builds, I am missing the West Indies and thought it would be great idea to bring the islands to these projects. I have no idea where the next project inspiration will come from, but I am sure time will tell. I do not plan to post more pics of these bikes being built on this thread, due to the fact that they are other threads.

Re: The Irie Yardie
Thanks guys. There is a lot of work left before I can be happy. I am already looking forward to my next project - a 24". Learned a lot over the weekend when I took the Hutch out for a 5 miles ride. Being 6'3" on a 20 inch bike is not comfortable for someone my height.

fanofbmx- awesome builds and great color combos. I am right there with you. Say a 20 inch doesn't feel right, well step right into a custom Schwinn KINGston Sting!!
Wanted- White Industries Freewheel 19T and 20T, and Big Gulp bars- because I think they look goofy enough to cruise with!

Thanks. I can't wait until the rest of the parts come back from being powdered coated.
lol. My wife thinks there is something wrong with me every winter cause I am wrapped in blankets and still cold. I don't think she will ever understand that my blood runs island degree. I lived in Hawai'i for awhile and that is the only state where is the weather is perfect year round. Believe it or not, I am not too bad considering I have family in northern canada (nw territories). Next winter I will make sure there is a break where I will only be found in the Caribbean.

Believe I am looking for a 24 inch right now. I should have bought the one I saw several weeks ago instead of hesitating.
I love that scheme you have on that bike. Who did the paint job?

Re: The Irie Yardie
Hmmm. I think I need to find someone around the Chicagoland area that would do the same quality of work. Just looked at the pic above and realized that all these bikes have some yellow in them. It must be something in the water.

Re: The Irie Yardie
I have been waiting awhile to post my RL20A, RL20B, RL20C- well lets go with RL20II. So I am 2/3 of the way there. Still working on the B, so here are the rest.
Just slowly adding more Redline bikes to my "small" collection. This bike is the first of three RLs I planned to have on the Museum in the near future. Maybe one these days I will have the twin version of this RL20a...I guess time will tell.
This bike was built around the crankset (Sugino CT 175 - thanks to Nachoman3) and the rest of the parts slowly started to turn up on the Museum and the Evil One (Flyte Tech). I even went to the extreme and purchased a pair of NOS Peregrine tires in white, but didn't have the heart to put them on.
I decided not to go the traditional route on this build because I wanted something with my personal taste. Therefore, I went with the gyro setup instead of the rotor and powdered coated the forks. By doing these small adjustments, this RL20a definitely stands out from the herd by making a bold statement about creativity. Furthermore, the Candy Apple Red shines like it should considering the frame and forks were originally chrome. My goal from the beginning was to have a hint of black throughout the bike, and I think that was nicely accomplished and complimented the primary colours of red and white.
REDLINE: Frame, Forks, Handlebars, Pegs, Seat Post
DIA COMPE: Brakes 880/901, Tech 5 Levers
ARAYA 7X: Hoops (NOS)
SUGINO CT: Cranks, Chainring
PEREGRINE: Hubs
FLYTE TECH: Seat

Thanks Michael. I owe a lot to Kevin for letting the f/f go. Between you and him, I now have two holy grails in my small collection.

You're welcome. Glad to hear I inspired you. The Hutch is getting close. Just about everything I need is either here or in the mail. Should be done soon. You'll definitely be one the first to see it.

Re: The Irie Yardie
Im not quite complete with the RL20b, but it still worth showing. My goal for this project is simple - keep it as a survivor as much as possible.
The wait is finally over - I got the three Bredrins (brothers). One more thing I can cross off my list.
