1980 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

This was my big restoration project bike.  It took a lot of parts and favors, and I have been wanting to rebuild one since I "lost" mine way back in 1985, a quest of 17 years came together!

OK.. please dont correct me on era correct parts.  I know I need pedals and brake pads, but most of it is in the same time period.  I wasnt trying to rebuild a show bike, but just trying to rebuild what I had as a kid, not a lot of money, doing a lot of trading, and buying from a limited selection at the local bike store.
I want to thank my kids and wife for driving the almost 200 miles round trip in a freakin blizzard to get this frame.  To Ronnie , Team Skeen, and S & S Anodizing for actually doing a blue anno job on the frame, I really hate that baby poop brown color mine was. To DJ EFX for the time, help, and knowlegdge, and most of all for giving me a pair of Tange TX-500 Forks 2 years ago that started me on this quest, countless people on E-Bay and here at the Museum that I have gotten parts from.  No Red Solo Cup here, but a Red Addix Sprocket... yes, wrong color scheme but it's what I had as a kid and thats what I wanted.   I had 3 bikes as a kid... a Roger Decoster ( I am just bought a frame) , a Schwinn Phontom Scrambler (I actually found the location of mine, and the guy said iI can have it back, I just gotta get to Chicago and get it) and a Ripper (done for now)

The 70's... We had no knee pads, no over protective soccer moms, no mini vans, if you messed up it was actually your own fault, and we rocked out to 8 tracks, cassettes and vinyl.  THAT'S HOW WE ROLLED!

Looks good Bud, enjoy it!

The kids all laughed when I showed up at the track on an old Free Spirit. At the end of the day... None of em were laughing.

Re: 1980 SE Racing P.K. Ripper

So, I shared a special moment with my son the other day...  we went out for a cruise.... both on Rippers.  And I am a BIG GUY!  but it was so fun, 2 generations, on 2 generations of rippers.
