Re: 1987 GT pro freestyle tour TEAM MODEL, project

I guess its time to start another one. I liked the blue one so much I decided to do another since I sold the last one right away.

this set was originals a PFT, its a matching 4 piece set refinished in the original color. bars and post are stamped and its got the FS serial number. C4labs did the powder. this set is immaculate like brand new, dropouts show zero wear.

I will add the parts to this thread as I get time. I need a crank set and disc.

I know I've posted this pic from FREESTYLIN' here before but, since you've been in the custom build mood lately...

I can't find any other pics but I'm pretty sure that there's a video out there of the event where the photo was shot...

The rider is Josh White. Photo by Windy Osborne for Freestylin' Magazine. http://www.windyosborn.com/freestyle.html

Also, the photo is from the Freestylin' Generation F Book. I'm not sure which issue it was actually in though.

yeah but custom colors don't have good resale value.  I may do a chrome one next time.

Re: 1987 GT pro freestyle tour TEAM MODEL, project

SR 474 information

here is someone's idea of restoring pedals.

thee ends are rounded over very badly, the end caps are old and beat up, the black pads are all cracked and worn, the reflectors have a bunch of tabs broken off and are probably glued in, the black seal from around the wrench end of the spindle is missing, and the spindles were wire wheeled and have no finish on them at all.

http://i144.photobucket.com/albums/r183/caleb_K21/20140328_135627_zps24401de4.jpg

when you are restoring these you need a set that is not scraped to badly, you can only file them down a little because there is not much metal to spare on the end, if you file to much the end caps will stick way out and the back side will rub on the end of the spindle.

here is a set I did, but they would sell for well over double the price of that other set. you get what you pay for.

also some goods for the next build im doing.

Re: 1987 GT pro freestyle tour TEAM MODEL, project

I do like the GT a Power Series crankset. It's the perfection imho : well designed, nice aluminium quality.

Living in France, I'm here for improving my English, learning technical words for my 3rd hobby : BMX. Catching some pop/slang words/sentences is very interesting and instructive for me too.
The first two are bonsais and Betta splendens breeding. Far behind the love for my daughter of course.
Looking for friendship worldwide. PM me smile

Re: 1987 GT pro freestyle tour TEAM MODEL, project

whoa the thread kept on!! the martin build...always dreamt about that specific bike, even much more than the production models or any other bike. that in fact made me use white headsets for ages...you worked magic on that one...does anyone know if gt had those lower gyro cables that were stock on the bikes custom made only for pft's? I never saw them sold separately. is it possible to restore power series cranks to their original finish, kinda like matte clear anodized?

Pretty sure they were made specially for GT. I don't recall them being sold separately. But then again I never broke my lower cable so I never really had to look BITD.
