Re: NASCAR

Nascar is for morons and is nothing more than mass advertising...

Racing is supposed to be development for manufacturers to test new parts and such.

"Hey ma, look at the pretty graphics on that there car....yoo hoo go #12!"

Cmon pushrod V8 with carbs? What century is this again?

And they drive in circles and all the car are IDENTICAL.

Re: NASCAR

The Australian Touring Car series all all V8s BTW and nearly identical to Nascar other than fuel injection and stock bodies. They use 5.0L engines with pushrod valves, fuel injection and approx 650 brake HP.

And WOW....they use OEM sheetmetal! WTF!?!?!?!?!?   lollol

And they don't drive in circles and DO run in the rain.

Holden Commodores and Ford Falcons...

Re: NASCAR

Go Smoke #14, gald to see Tony Stewart back in a Chevy.  I can watch him again, now hes not driving that other junk.  Great first run for those guys at Stewart Hass.  I hoped for JR to stay out of that wreck but thats how it goes at plate tracks.  Good race and glad to see the boys out there doing it again.

All pro level sports are advertising whore's, thats just the game. The reason all the cars are the same is to create a level playing field, GM Ford and Chrysler still look to nascar designers to come up with new engine designs and ideas for everyday cars. Nascar has more fans in attendence than baseball, football and basketball combined each year. I grew up in the midwest and we have 5 racetracks for auto racing within 60 miles. They tried to put up a euro design track here and it failed in the first year, not enough interest. Nascar is a sport that I grew up with, kinda like people from Pittsburg love the steelers because their dad loved the Steelers.

I agree... I am working on a 71 mustang fastback with a 429, I also daily drive a honda civic hatch. Most of my friends want me to build up the honda and can't understand why I would rather spend 10 years and $20,000 on the mustang. Don't get me wrong you can make a honda fast but in the end its still just a crappy honda. cool

So Nascar driver are not even among the worlds top drivers huh? You really made this one too easy. I'll take it easy on you since you are slow. I will only make an example of 3 current Nascar drivers. If you care to do a little research before making ignorant comments in the future be my guest. Nothing personal I just get upset when ignorance is conveyed as knowledge.

Ok smart a%* Who are these guys?

----Tony Stewart----

Winston/Nextel/Sprint Cup (33 career wins plus 2 championships)

Busch/Nationwide Series (7 career wins)

Craftsman Truck Series (2 career wins)

International Race of Champions (4 career wins plus championship)

IRL IndyCar Series (3 career wins plus championship)

----Juan Pablo Montoya----

F3000 : 102.5 points, 7 wins, 10 poles, 1 time champion
CART : 338 points, 10 wins, 14 poles, 1 time champion
IRL : 54 points, 1 win, 0 poles, 1 time Indy 500 champion
Formula One : 304 points, 7 wins, 13 poles, 2 times 3rd in the championship
NASCAR Sprint Cup : 1 win, 9 top-tens

----and last but not least, Robby Gordon---- (who by the way has not been able to get his Nascar career on track (not due to a lack of ability though).

6 SCORE International championships (1986-90, 1996)
3 time Baja 1000 winner
3 Dakar Rally stage victories
3 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series wins
1 NASCAR Sprint Cup Gatorade 125 Win
1 NASCAR Nationwide Series win (Richmond '04)
2 CART wins (Phoenix and Detroit '95)
2 Central Europe Rally Special wins

I'll let you look up Jeff Gordon. Yes, Nascar I've got your back. big_smilebig_smile

Re: NASCAR

P.S For some reason all of these guys seem to think Nascar is the most difficult to compete in. Not to mention they know where the money's at. If it were so boring why would these guys quit somewhere they were having great success. Except Robby he races tricycles to I think.

but dont forget to add Dale Earnhardt Sr. in there too. 7 time winston up champ, Iroc champ and even has good standings in the Rolex 24hr race too. all you people bashing nascar is what makes the sport even bigger. so keep hatin all you want it only helps us. Yes, I did not forget "The Intimidator"just going off current drivers. But you make a point I almost forgot. Nascar drivers almost always beat other types in IROC.
