After Kex came the Pro-lines.  The main differences were the missing integrated seat clamp and I dont think any more ovalized top tubes were available.  These came out in late 92 early 93 and were still made of chromoly.

Here is one of the earliest square backs made by Kastan (not including the redlines)  This one is an early serial number with the older style decals and no canti mounts.  I believe they came out early 93.  I believe sometime in later in 93, they switched to the newer decal and added the canti mounts but it was basically the same bike still made out of chromoly.  The next gen of Kastans would also be square back but they switched to aluminum in about 94.

http://i1298.photobucket.com/albums/ag5 … 7fea66.jpg

They made the aluminum bikes and the cromo bikes simultaneously.  I was good friends with Adam Richards (who was Kastan's AA Pro for several years in the mid/late 90s), and he went from an aluminum XL to a cromo Squareback XL in 96, then back to the aluminum frame in 97.

Re: KASTAN thread BMX.

That's good to know. The years are a little tough to pin down because nobody kept track. Guess we were all too busy riding wink .
Nowadays I'm trying to remember and document the information for the next generation of riders. cool

Haha! No I'm mean I heard you like forks and not struts.  I posted my square back that has a set of forks. No strut on that one line in your racing pic. smile

What other bmx parts did kastan manufacture other than frames, forks/hubs, seat posts, handlebars, and stems.

Re: KASTAN thread BMX.

That Kushion fork is wild. I wonder if that's where Cannondale got the idea for there lefty fork. And the Kastan cranks speak for themselves.

I hung on to the frame until I gave it away in 2004.  All I have left are the Standard Strip bars.

Re: KASTAN thread BMX.

You have the back wheel pretty far back in the drop out. If that's an XL the top tube is 22". Must have been tough to pull that bike up.

It was back in the dropouts.  It was a Pro (20.5").  The reason that the wheel was so far back was that I like to have the bar/bb/seat/rear axle relationship pretty close to identical between my 20 and cruiser, so that it makes it easier to adjust to one or the other when racing them both the same day.

That makes complete sense being a pro. I have a pro XL that I race to this day. And have the rear wheel slammed. I'm 6'2" and the frame is long.
