Actually forget all the info i posted and look at your shackles.... if they are stock and you want 1 more inch of travel, take the stock shackles out and put lift shackles in.  You'll get the 1 inch you need....... and you would have had to take everything loose anyway if you were to add a leaf to each side, so this is easier and keeps the ride the way it is.

Shit forgot to mention that is with lift shackles lol

Cool. I appreciate all the info! I thought about air shocks but wasn’t sure if it would be enough. Might do the bags if it means I don’t need to notch. I’ve done it before on my 83 but for some reason I don’t want to cut this frame! Although I may not have a choice no matter what i do

So in theory, the flip gave you 5.5 and the lift made the flip about 4.5 and if your 3/4" to hitting the axle, i would probably assume 2 leafs were pulled on each side...if it was only one, your leafs are sagging from age.  There is not  much you can do from here unless you take the flip out and do drop hangers and drop shackles.  this combo would be 4" compared to a 5.5 a flip gives you.  So this route would get you the 1.5 plus the .75 gap and you would have 2.25" of travel between the axle and frame.

Re: Square Body Chevy's-Who's a fan?

It was me, i would do a bag over leaf kit.
1.  It would give you the ability the air up the inch you desire.

2.  Handling would be better.

3.  You could carry anything in the bed.  4 wheeler?  No problem.  Refrigerator?  No problem.

4.  Shocks aren't important anymore to the ride.

5.  With bags, even 5 psi should air you the inch, 50 would air you up 3 inches more.

6.  No c notch needed, no axle hitting frame.

7.  The rear helper bag kit should be a selling point to all the guys the say "but you cant haul anything"....ummm...yup, more that stock, with bags.

8.  You can find the exact psi to get exactly how high you want the rear to look best with the front....

9.  You can air up to go over an obstacle like a driveway thats really steep.

If you go with a double convoluted bag get a 2600.  Takes less air and rides better.  A tapered 9000 series sleeve bag is the best.

Airshocks are ok, but i think one ends up not being as effective due to one side being mounted differently but cant remember right now.  Bags are the answer.

He says he wants to but hasn’t made time. Always something else that needs done. It has family history with me. I remember going to get it at the dealership in ‘85. Have had it ever since. I thought about buying it from him but truthfully I want a 2wd. I already have a 4x4. Idk.
