1982 Torker MX

Acquired from a friend in Orange County who fully restored her. This was the bike I never had and couldn't afford. There was only one kid in my circle of friends who had a bike just like this but he didn't let any of us ride his Torker. Man I miss the 80's. Hope you guys like it. -SOLD-

Nothing is as Pimp as Gold Anodized!!  Sweet bike!

Grammar is important. Capital letters are the difference between helping your Uncle Jack off a horse, and helping your uncle jack off a horse.

Re: 1982 Torker MX

Nice job. I hope to have one like this myself, some day. Have 3 Torkers now, but what I really want is a black and gold 20, preferably an Eddy King.

Re: 1982 Torker MX

Archie,

Looking forward to seeing your bike in the museum. Wish I still had the one I bought in 1979 or 1980.

I'm in OC, too, and building up two old Torkers (in museum) and should have the 20 done soon. How 'bout you plnsmpl-socal? Be cool to check out your bikes some time. You guys ride them?

Michael

I will get it posted soon.I bought it in 81 from Bike Alley here in Orange.Bummer part is that I dont have a picture of it with the yellow snake bellys.I took them off about a year ago cuz the sides were getting really thin.I still have them but just put regular black tires on it to ride it around.Let me snap a few and get them up.
Yep,im in Orange,very close.

Archie

Re: 1982 Torker MX

Archie, that is sweet. Sweet, I say.

Here's mine. Also in OC. Cranks back from anodizer on Tuesday. Hope to replace this 1985 Pro F/F with 1979-1981 model soon. This fits me better, but it's not what I had in 1979-1980. Should have my 24 built similarly next weekend.

Re: 1982 Torker MX

Hey Archie & Planet X,  those bikes really bring back memories.  They look awesome.

From time to time I ride my bikes maybe up and down the street for a few minutes cause I'm always short on time.

Planet X, what kind of cranks are you gonna put on your torker???  I can't wait to see the cranks you have planned for this bike.  Beautiful piece of history you have there!

Archie, are those KKT Lightning Pedals I see on your Torker???  That's sweet!!!  Your bike looks very similar to my friends' Torker back in the days.  Man, I miss that bike.

Talk to you guys soon!!!

Re: 1982 Torker MX

I have either Dura-Ace or Campy for it. Neither are really correct for this 1983 frame, but I'm hoping this one is only temp. till I find an early 1980s model--preferably in black. I just had both sets of cranks anodized gold. I hope to get them tomorrow. Crossing my fingers they look good. Still need a conversion BB for this one.

Whichever cranks I don't use for this bike will go on my 1981 Torker 24" cruiser. Hope to build that up this weekend. Rims are being anodized, too. Will prob. build wheels on Sat. Then just need tires and tubes--nothing too fancy, new Tioga Comp 3s or MX Comps.

Man, I hope they do a nice hue of gold. You never know.

Thats what they are.I loved those pedals back in the day.I remember my friends all had Shimano Pedals and if your feet  slipped off them your shins would be shredded.
Thanks!!!
