Re: iPad/iPhone museum app

Short answer, we are working on it..
Long answer..No, see why here.. GAry wrote:

Finish up testing and implentation of the mobile version.. add to app store?

i'm working on a mobile version of the site, essentially a skin, not an app.

we'd need to hire an iOS dev to make an iphone app if you want something in the app store. this is a huge difference & would require a ton of work on the site to support a scalable API, as well as the months of design & development for the app. likely in the range of a $15,000-$30,000 investment.

Re: iPad/iPhone museum app

Would be awesome! Ok who wants to kick in some cash money talks? You can just add it to your apps on the iPhone and it has a cool logo box and still works great and goes right to the page.

Too many manufacturers making "Android" phones with different versions of Android (Froyo, Gingerbread, Honeycomb, etc...)
There isn't much consistency with Android.  Some work well...some not so much.

Re: iPad/iPhone museum app

Different OS is made because people always like different things. I like Android because I just do. Other people like Apple because they just do. Is one better then the other? Only the user knows what fits them best.

Re: iPad/iPhone museum app

And here I thought those smart phones had browsers on them. Go figure roll

Oh wait, I know, phones are the best way to deliver Internet, but you need some form of translator because Internet wasn't supposed to be used on a 3" screen.

I guess I'm just a crabby jerk, but as much as I like to have Internet on my phone for emergencies, it bugs the crap out of me to see people more focued on their phones than the people in front of them or the work they are being paid to do.

Re: iPad/iPhone museum app

what would the point of an app for my ipad be for the bmx museum?. i can have 6 different windows open and be able just to click on the saved bmx museum window. Its just about the same thing. Even when i am not home, i just click on my ipad and even if the bmx museum screen was not there, i would just have to go to safari on my ipad and click "B" and it automatically loads the museum page.

Its really not that hard at all using my ipad without a BMX MUSEUM IPAD app.  I personally would not invest as an owner 15-30 grand to make a little bmx museum icon and app. Gary is right in that sense.

Re: iPad/iPhone museum app

agree 100%.  a web based mobile app is the way to go.  it will be inherently cross-platform (or cross-phone) compatible.  screw apple and their objective C!
