2012 Skyway T/A XL 24
2012 Skyway T/A XL 24
First of the chrome 24" T/A XL prototypes that Skyway made for their new 2012 release.
This frameset is 5 years in the making. We've been working on this since 2007, and this is the first chrome prototype that was made for testing. This prototype features front brake mounts that will not be seen on production models. The rear dropouts also have 2 "holes" in them, which is a marker showing that this is a prototype frame. Production models will not have those holes.
Heavily influenced by it's early 80's model, this new 2012 TA features updated racing geometry and sizing. Made from 4130 chrome moly, every tube on this bike is teardrop shaped, except the headtube and bottom bracket.
This is a "extra-long" model cruiser, with a 22" top tube. Even though it has race geometry, it will be GREAT as a street rider for all of those guys that just like to cruise and have fun on a BMX bike! Here are the details.
22" Top Tube
Euro BB
1-1/8" threadless headtube
V-Brake mounts
Headtube- 73.5 degrees
Seat Tube- 73 degrees
Chainstays- 15.4" to 16.75"
25.4 seatpost
Uses 1-1/8" seatpost clamp
BB Height- 12.3"
Seatpost Height (center of BB to center of top tube) 10.5"
Cable guides on top tube

Dam fine job! So many parts options with the f/f it will keep you up at night! I would love to build a chrome one, take it to the track & go ballz out!
My next bike will be my LAST one.

Re: 2012 Skyway T/A XL 24
Wondering if a shorter top tube will be an options for those of us that don't care for mega long (22") a nice 20.5" version and I will sell any bike in my stable to get one.
I don't have A.D.D., it's just.... oh look, a chicken.

Ed, Congratulations on the completion of this worthy project. I know it's been a labor of love for you and you should be proud of the finished project.
Thanks to you and Skyway for evolving BMX roots into the 2000's. May you have a prosperous new year!

20.5 is too short for a cruiser. We may do a 21.25" down the road....

I believe the frame comes in at 5lb, 10oz, but don't hold me to that..... I'll weigh the forks when I'm able to grab one that doesn't have the brake mounts....
Those Kool Caps I bought on eBay. I don't know how to get more.....

Kool kaps can be bought from Maiden products. That's where I got mine. They supposedly got a 2nd gen one too.
