1984 GT Pro Performer

candy red gt pro performer

since getting back into bmx i wanted to build a gt world tour like i had back in 85-87..... i took me a while but eventualy i found a powder for the frame and forks, the frame is november 84, the forks are 86-87 will take some better pics when the sun decides to play ball!!!
it was a two coat powder process, first was chome powder and second was a red transparent powder which was applied whilst the frame was still hot from the first coat the effect is like red glass, it looks awsome

Re: 1984 GT Pro Performer

VERY nice!!! I like it when people take a "risk" and use a color that was not a factory option! I'm thinking of doing my '86 Pro performer in either gloss black, which has been done, so I'm leaning more towards going with Emerald Green Metallic.

I dub your bike the "Pro Perform-Star"!!! smile

Re: 1984 GT Pro Performer

That thing looks great in that color.  I would have to agree that it is nice to see something different.  My '85 Performer will remain yellow, like the factory painted it, but if I had a second one to "mess around with", I'd do something crazy!

Re: 1984 GT Pro Performer

I like it! I always like seeing Old Peformers in non-factory colors.
Reminds me of BITD seeing Fiola in the mags w/ a Black 85 or a Red one (seen pics on both). I always thought that was a total Factory Pilot thing. Getting to have a non-production color.
Made me paint my 85 Performer Black BITD...
