1991 Auburn CR-20R

dream bike for me

Always wanted one of these when I was a kid in 92. I could only fantasize about it while staring at the pages of BMX Plus. I had forgotten all about it until about 2000 when I came across this one on ebay. Bought it for about $50. Dirty as hell. Cleaned her up and it stayed with me ever since. The only bike in my collection that I will never sell. Original paint and decals!

Re: 1991 Auburn CR-20R

Great story!  Your not alone.  I looked at that same issue of bmx plus.  Carried it around with me until it looked like a bunch of crusty pages with the cover long gone.  I have gone a little crazy with my auburns.

How does the break work for you on the chain stay?  I've never seen anybody do that...

Re: 1991 Auburn CR-20R

Well my friend.. you got the fever pretty bad. Its a syndrome most of us share. I can totally relate. I was dirt poor as a kid. Grew up and made some money I have had cars ,motorcycles galore but never scratched my itch for the BMX bikes that could never afford as a kid. Now I got more than 20 in my collection. I am Happy for you. It fills a void that had been placed in your soul from early on in life. I hope you build another one then another one then another one ect.ect.

Seeing this bike reminds me that I need to get going on mine.  All I need left is a nice set of wheels.

It works fine! This is how me and my friends used to install our brakes back in the day... so I'm doing it this way today. Just looking at how the brake is set up brings so many good memories.

Re: 1991 Auburn CR-20R

Great read this morning, and thanks for sharing. Bought my first Auburn at 30 years old in 1990. I love them, and have a pair for both myself, and the wife. Enjoy!
