1981 Prodyne 26
1981 Prodyne 26
1 of 9 accounted for Prodyne cruisers. The ONLY chrome 26 accounted for. Frame was NOS before building
First brief history on Prodyne
Prodyne was made by Larry Barker who owned and operated "Larry's precision welding" located a few doors down from JM Cyclery (JMC). Larry was the guy that built the original JMC frame jigs and welded most of the early frames, he was very influential in the frame design. If you look at the dropouts of the Prodyne they are the same as JMC along with the seat post mast.
Prodyne was basically a 26" JMC

Sweet build Thornton! You knocked another one out of the park again.
You didn't ride it, if you didn't bite it.
There's the way it ought to be and there's the way it is.

As someone who has to execute and deliver results and products, I have a strong appreciation for flawless executions. Starting with a perfect foundation, it just doesn't get any better! This one of my favorite bikes on the museum. I can remember having the opportunity to grab both the bars and the frame, but too many toys, etc....it could not have gone to a better home. Excellent job!

Re: 1981 Prodyne 26
Sweet Jesus! As if the frame itself wasn't cool enough, you go and load to up with the mintyest, freshest stuff on the planet! This bike is literally a show stopper. Unfortunately, I will compare all my builds to this! NOT FAIR! Great job, it is now a fav!
Always looking for Cook Bros. stuff, vintage SE stuff, MCS 6 bolt Super stems, and Race Inc. Leading Edge/Cycle Pro/BMX innovations 20" forks. All NOS or in very nice condition.

Absolutely gorgeous. Well done on such a high quality build.
Tusk. In its entirety. Just as Lindsay Buckingham intended it to be.
