Re: 1982 Redline Proline

As I understand it the RB ***** frames are 1982, made in Japan with brazed rear dropouts, let me know if you have different info. Is there any other differences between the Prolines from 82 to 85? I also have a 84 RL20 Pro Styler in chrome with similar forks to my Proline only chunkier (no peg bosses), do you have any info on Proline/800p forks? Cheers

Re: 1982 Redline Proline

my appologies for jumping the gun,
you've got a brazed rear drop, RB serial and BB brace. wow there's something i have not seen before. the brazed rears were Carrera completes (info from BMX plus mag from Oct 1982) Pro-line-II were welded rears but i'm not sure what year they went to. the only difference from '82-'85 that's been discussed was the BB brace and a little gusset that was welded in behind where the seat clamp goes. the dating of the BB brace issue has changed with your fine example LOL but having said that yours may be a late 1982.
i have a few sets of forks, 2 sets have a rounded bottom and 1 set that's on my 1985 800p have a flatter bottom on them. i'll get some pics soon.
i've got some stickers if you want the correct ones?

Re: 1982 Redline Proline

Thanks for the info. Would love a set of stickers, who made them for you? If you have the artwork electronically I could get them printed here. I've had some 85 800p Hazard Yellow stickers done, that's the build I'm trying to get going (I used to have one), just can't get my hands on a era specific frame/forks. The 82 Proline and the 84 Prostyler I have were both random ebay purchasers (seller provided very little info) which lead me to research all the early model Prolines, as it turns out both frames are quite rare! Do you have any info on the redline stamps under the BB? My 82 Proline has an oval shaped one and my 84 Prostyler has the hotdog style one, what's the significance?

Would love to see some pics of your 85 800p.

Where abouts in Australia are you from? I'm from Melbourne originally but have lived in the UK for the last 9 years. There's some good BMX shops based in the UK (AlansBMX, WinStanleys)

Re: 1982 Redline Proline

I think I remember seeing your 800p on ebay as well as your decals! I think the 85 800p would be better with DC 901's or Nippons...

Re: 1982 Redline Proline

Interzone, could you post pics of your 84 RL20 Pro Styler in chrome. I have one as well that I am currently building up. It's posted in the research section. I haven't seen another one before.

These are Redline Prostylers. The chrome is an early 1984, the white is a late 1984 (with peg bosses) and the turquoise is a 1985 with a fork that I'm told may be from an 800P.

yes to both. the pics of the 800p were the ones off ebay when i bought it last month.

the 800p will be built for riding and i'm using survivor parts, i may even put a DC centre pull on it for better stopping power.

i love that turquoise frame in your pic. if i was to redo my 800p that would be the colour of choice.

...no probs Oliver - what a find your 800p is, you don't see too many 85's in chrome - brilliant!
