How do you tell an ENF from an early Pro Stock? Without the serial #.

The easiest way is to look at the bottom bracket. If the hole is round it is a Pro Stock, if it is square it is an ENF/Pro Modified.

The ENF money shot:

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/29827/enf-pro-mod-bb5dfabe3ae3.jpg

Also the seatstays where they meet the yoke are different. On the ENF/Pro Mod they meet in a U-shape below the yoke/extrusion (1995-96, 1997 and later it is one long tube bent into a U-shape with no seam) and on the Pro Stock the two stays are attached to the sides of the yoke.

ENF:

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/29827/bmxplus_9501_025dfabf40ab.jpg

Pro Stock:

https://s3.amazonaws.com/uploads.bmxmuseum.com/user-images/29827/20171228_132546_film35dfabfd002.jpg

Although the later Pro Stocks with the extrusion are like the early frames with the two-piece stays meeting below the extrusion.

And I ditched FB ages ago also wink

Right on man. Isn't there something about the seat stays being a real loop or there being a weld in the center, with the ram air piece. Never mind, you were explaining that part as I was typing.cool

Re: Lets see those SCHWINNS...Bikes/parts/ect

1995 ENF had the tubular yoke, as did the 1996 Pro Mod and early 1996 cruisers. Late 1996 cruisers got the extrusion used on the 1997 models (with a few exceptions having been found on 20" frames) but all 1996 frames have the two-piece stays even with the extrusion. This was the weak point in the early frames which was remedied by the triangular (later called Ram Air) extrusion, then further remedied by forming both stays out one single tube. If you look closely in the mag pic above you can see the little blob of weld where the two pieces are joined.

But of course, as soon as we form a rule, we find an exception lol.
