1968 Schwinn Deluxe Stingray. Purchased from the original owner whose dad bought for him in Chicago in 1969. He still had the original owner's manual in absolute mint condition, look at that price tag! It's been a slow process but I think it deserves it. It is almost ready for assembly as well!

Re: Lets see those SCHWINNS...Bikes/parts/ect

Progressy progress, it's finally happening...

Enter one slightly damaged SX2000:

(shout out to Perron for the great deal smile

and after de-brazing an '87 Cimarron with the ol' torch (Sting main tubes), and attacking an '88 High Sierra with the the ol' band saw (Sting-style flared seat tube) the custom goodness of a "Sting XL" is on the way-

Re: Lets see those SCHWINNS...Bikes/parts/ect

Since this will be my test mule for me (to make sure I can braze a frame that holds together before I offer them for sale to others) it'll just be a 20" Sting XL. A sharp set of 24" Ukais would set me back $200-400 and I already have really nice set of blue 20" hoops, 44t ring etc.

Interestingly the rear geometry is almost identical to the Pro Mod geo I'll be copying (1* difference in the ST angle, otherwise the same stay lengths and such) so basically it'll look OS, but ride like a Falcon. The plan is to rebuild my childhood bike but in a size I can ride now. The tricky part is bumping into cheap Cimarrons- guys who know what they are tend to want $300 or so, High Sierras (for the flared seat tube) North of $150 but the saving grace is that if I find them cheap enough, the 87/88 dated 990 brakes sell well to the Haro guys and I can always use 26" hoops...

Re: Lets see those SCHWINNS...Bikes/parts/ect

Eventually. I made progress today on something I've been dreaming about for years and couldn't resist posting a pic or two now that I finally had all three donor frames to cut up. Next step is cutting up 8' of cromo tubing and brazing up, then cutting in half a zillion joints and that's going to be decidedly boring for anyone to watch lol. Still have a little bit of work to do on the frame jig as well, it's about 80% there. Hoping to maybe do it for the Spring BO, maybe just focus on the Predator 24. As usual, too many irons in the fire, to few people buying my parts smile

This is my battle plan, and it's attached to an engine stand so I can roll it around-
