1998 Trek SubCulture SS

Looked for one of these for a while - Getting a rebuild now

March 29, 2012 - finally got around to cleaning her up in time for the Spring Fling.
DK seat, ODI bar ends, Wellgo platforms, Black chain.
I built a close approximation of the OG rear wheel with a Kin Lin steady class Araya 7X clone and a Schwinn XS sealed hub.
I couldn't get all the chrome to shine as someone sanded parts of it to dull -would take serious buffing or re-chrome.
Altogether, looks great, shines up, is light, rides nice, and fits well since it's a long bike.

-----------------

I actually bought a mint one of these on Ebay two years ago for a ridiculous good price, but the seller couldn't let it go.
Well, I finally got another one -local on Craigslist.  It needs more work but in good condition and all there.

Trek SubCulture SS
The SS was the upgrade of the SubCulture -basically it added the three piece cranks
CU92 aircraft aluminum frame with clear coat
Vigorousport 3 piece hollow chromoly cranks 180
Wellgo platform / clipless combination pedals
Long Trek threadless stem
Chromoly Pro handlebars and Trek fork
Aheadset SX-1 threadless headset
Formula sealed bearing front hub laced to Araya 7X.  Rear is a replacement
Odyssey P-lite Frequency G tires, both are 20"x1.75"
Tektro V-Brakes
Shadow seat post.  Orig would have been chromoly 26.8mm
Shadow seat with chromoly rails

I'm in the process of stripping off the cracked clearcoat and giving this frame a polish
Cleaning and polishing all the chrome parts
NOS Trek saddle to go on here
Rear wheel is missing, so replacing with a double wall rim and sealed bearing hub.

Stuff I want: 2000 24" DB Reactor Team frame ,  Voxom and Enigma stuff. Alliant / Radix stem and stuff.  JW and Stiffys stuff.  Cool late mid-school cruiser parts.
