1979 Mongoose Motomag

Keep in mind, it does not have the coaster tab because toward the end of '79 is when they got rid of the tabs, and mine was made later in the year. (see pic attached).
Well its nearly complete, mneeds a chain eh?

WOW, that's cool to see. This was my first real BMX bike. I actually broke the frame right in the place you have the sticker on the lower main tube. Definitely not a light race bike but I still love seeing those mag wheels.

Gods..., dude (or girl), how in the H-E-double hockey pucks did you keep it in such spectacular condition?? I mean..., really. How?? lol

Re: 1979 Mongoose Motomag

Well, thanks for the compliment, but it wasn't kept in spectacular condition, it was spraybombed gold over nickel when I got it. Looking back, and knowing what I know now, I should have simply removed the spraypaint and polished the nickel, but oh well, live and learn, I sandblasted it and had it powdered a silver sparkle with transluscent blue laid over top of it. The decals are repros.
Thanks again.

Re: 1979 Mongoose Motomag

I don't own it anymore..
PS: Hey Gary, can you change the original post to reflect me as being the person who posted it?
Seems like most of my bikes showed up as "guest".

In fact, I think I might have e-mailed you a bunch of pics of my collection and you originally loaded them on here..

Thanks bud. (no biggy if you can't get it to show up as me being the poster)

Man, that looks so minty. Very posh ride at the time in spite of having it's own gravitational field. Motocross grip tires look cool... I am not sure if that's new rubber band or also vintage? Looks cool as hell.

Seriously considering a torker/redline midlife crisis project ^_^
