Re: Cheap Bike Stands from PVC

Made this out of a 1" pvc pipe and glued all the pieces together.
The space between the uprights of the tees where the wheel is supposed to go in might be bit big. I have used 2" cuts for space.

I leave the "legs" that are flat on the floor un capped and unglued.  If i want to link them together with a coupling I can,  or link them close.  Much easier to store in the winter if the legs come off.

Re: Cheap Bike Stands from PVC

If you plan to ever make more than a few things w PVC pipe, get a pair of PVC Pipe cutters.

Basically, a heavy duty set of scissors made specifically to cut plastic pipe.

They cut exactly square and you have a CLEAN smooth cut. None of those fuzzy PVC dingle-berries to clean up.

Here is an example picture. Plan to pay $15 to $25 for a pair.

Buy the longer sections of pipe. It costs less per foot that way, and you will have less waste leftovers, too. Just use your cutters after you leave the store to make a couple cuts so the long sections fit in your car.

Next tool you should use to make it super easy and consistent is an adjustable t-square.

Slide the square to the 2" mark and lock it down w the locking screw. Lay the ruler ontop of the pipe w the edge of the square tight against the end of the pipe. Pencil or pen to make a mark. Cut w your PVC cutter... And repeat how ever many times you need. Now, you have multiple pieces the exact same size, and you only had to set up measurement once.  Then, open to 5.25" and repeat for that piece... Etc... Until you have all your pieces.

Double bike version. Used 5.25" sections of pipe between the t's and next section to make base wider.

Here’s an option for linking them. This puts them at an angle. There are 10” pieces between the tees that link together. These are all glued except on one side where they remove.
