Did these today. Built 3 and have material to do 5 more. Way cheaper than the ones you buy, and hold bike better.

I made some cheap stands from PVC.  I know they're not as pretty as the ones at the LBS, but you can make one for about 4 bucks.

Here's what  I used

6 feet of 3/4" PVC - That I cleaned with acetone to get the printing off
4 Tee fittings
8 90 Degree fitting

I didn't glue any of the joints together due to the complex layout.  I don't think you could get all the pieces together and keep it flat if you glued them.

I might try to paint one if I get a chance.

You may need to modify it a bit if you have a rim with a very narrow tire.

Enjoy

had an idea to use this design for a show worthy stand. instead of the str8 pieces being pvc use 3/4 wooden dowel and stain it. then paint all the joint pieces a brass color. should look really nice.

Re: Cheap Bike Stands from PVC

my Ts were coming apart after a few uses so i found that glueing just the 2 Ts together with a 1.75" pvc works best. it helps the bike stand up straight. i connected 10 together and it looks awesome

Re: Cheap Bike Stands from PVC

my friend made some but for his 26" cruiser... although it's designed to hold up a bigger bike, he still uses it for his 20" bmx... the axle nuts hold it up, and it's still very stable...

edit: this design is GDLK btw...
