Re: Cheap Bike Stands from PVC

I've made 2 so far..  one for my 20" Hutch, and one for my 24" Free Agent.  I Had to make some modifications to the "cruiser" sized one.  It was a little unstable, so I just made it a couple inches wider on each side, and a little taller..  Killer!

Re: Cheap Bike Stands from PVC

Just bought the material needed for this from my local Lowe's.  Had to get a 10 foot pipe, they didn't have 6 footers.  Cost me 6.09 with tax.
Works great.

Looking for 1988 Haro Group 1 RS2, and RS4 frame and forks.  Straight top bar.  Late build 87 serial numbers okay only with original 88 color schemes.

Re: Cheap Bike Stands from PVC

I find it very coincidental that this thread was revived yesterday. I just found this thread and bought everything needed to make one of these yesterday. My local Home Depot has PVC in 2' sections, which costs more than buying a 10' section, but they fit into my VW a little easier, so it was worth the extra money. Anyway, thanks for sharing this idea!

Re: Cheap Bike Stands from PVC

I glued mine eventually, but they're a pretty tight fit without glues too...

I didn't glue mine and they are fine.  Although, I did the the four vertical posts longer (9.25") to let my back wheel spin if needed. My pegs rest on the horizontal posts.

My parts list looks like-

8 @ 9.25"
2 @ 5.25"
4 @ 2"

8 90 degree elbows
4 T's

Re: Cheap Bike Stands from PVC

I know this thread is old, but 4 years later, I finally made one of these.  I made mine a little wider for stability.  Total investment was $8.00.  Pretty easy to build too...

Re: Cheap Bike Stands from PVC

^Nice. I like the decals.

I ended up making mine wider, gluing them together and painting them black. They look nice now, but I'm sure they'll look pretty bad once they start chipping. That might take some time though. I used lots of paint and clear on them.

The best pic I have:
