Re: 1982 Torker 24

Thanks. Close to finishing. Need one freaking gold 7X and I'll be able to build it. Parts have changed (for the better) since that photo. I lucked out on this. Got it 10 years ago. Just getting around to building it. Frame is all original with killer chrome. Need a Torker fork, but the Profile that's on it will do for now.

Cheers

Re: 1982 Torker 24

They're cool, huh. Not sure I'll need them 'cause they're too new for me, but I thought the taller GTs I sold were too old. Now, old-school tall bars are exactly what I want. Wish I colud find some old Torkers or Prodyns or the like.

Someone else was interested in them too. Don't see many that low profile. Not sure what I'm going to do with 'em. I have a few things like that. . .

Re: 1982 Torker 24

What are those? Anyway, no. . .no freestyle stuff for me. I missed that whole movement. I'm looking for cruiser bars.

Nice lawn though. Wish mine was looking that good.

Re: 1982 Torker 24

Those are GTs. Put 'em on NOS. Got 'em in the early 1990s from a buddy at GT. No clue how old they really are.

Oh, those. Those are Robinsons. Got them the same time as the GTs. Those are kind of cool. Still not sure what to do with them. Might put them on my 26 temporarily. Might not.

Re: 1982 Torker 24

BTW, have you seen my new projects?  The free agent's coming along.  I've got a set of NOS PMC hubs, and NOS PMC seat post clamp and headset lock on the way.  I  still haven't decided on what kind of cranks to go with.  I've got a minty set of Sugino 180 OPCs, but for some reason, I'm kinda hankering for a set of GT Power Series aluminum 3pc., which is odd 'cause I've always HATED those cranks.  Nevertheless, I think they might fit that build very well.

Re: 1982 Torker 24

School's over. Graduated in June. Looking for work. Making plans to do some cool stuff. Hoping the economy turns around. And building bikes.

Made a few changes to this. New wheels--Phils and 7Xs, bars--First. gen Powerlites, tires, hmmm, NOS cross bar pads. Digging it. Built a sweet JMC and am building another Torker.

Oh, and I'm working on a history of Torker and deciphering the serial number code. Fun stuff.

How's things with you?

How's things with you?

On the home stretch putting the house back together.  Trying to resist the urge to bludgeon my wife.  Almost done with the Standard and the Free Agent.  Son's getting big, starting to toss around ideas for his first bike.  Have you seen oldsklharo's project bike?  I think it's cool but I think you're gonna hate it. tongue

Re: 1982 Torker 24

Glad things are almost back together for you. Still no job. Had one, then the company had issues and laid a bunch off a bunch of people.

Haven't seen his bike. I'll see if I can find it.

Re: 1982 Torker 24

You mailbox is full. . .

It's pretty cool. That frame was messed up anyway. I had it on my serial number list already one with a crappy repair job. I just hope he didn't screw up real Torker 24 forks. I've been looking for some of those for years. Still need them. He could have made those from scratch easily.

At first, I was bummed, then I checked the SN.

It's actually a cool project.

Thanks for the link.

Re: 1982 Torker 24

Wish I could cuss here. Cutting those was retarded. Miles could have just remade some in the Haro style from the start and it wouldn't have mattered at all.

That kind of crap drives me crazy. Can't tell you how many times I've posted that I'm looking for some--for years. I would have gladly traded some nice CWs I had for those and he could f'd 'em up as much as he liked. No one would have known the difference.

Looks like those might have been repaired, but I'm so desperate for some 24" forks, I wouldn't care.

Oh well. I'm over it now. Kinda.

Re: 1982 Torker 24

Nah, I just traded them for some GT XT bars, then I traded those for some really nice GT Pro bars.

I had them for sale for a long freaking time. A buddy of mine just picked up a frame sans forks, so I hooked him up.

Sorry.
