Nice pic.  Would you have any specs for that ramp or another about that size you like?

I like 5ft tall box jumps.  8 ft deck with a 8ft 6inch radius for the take off. It's a little steep but I enjoy it.

Any other specs you are looking for?

Re: RAMPS, Gates, Half pipes, Lets see what you built for BMX

Wish I still had the videos of the dirt jumps (roughly 12) my friend and I built back 15 years ago in my parents backyard, sadly no pics either.
We did build this box in his lawn a few years back though.

I only hit it a few times before my back went out, haha. It's now in kinda rough shape, so we may repurpose it in my backyard as a roll in or who knows what, for the new dirt playground we're starting to build.

Re: RAMPS, Gates, Half pipes, Lets see what you built for BMX

^^Nice table section, I should build one, but they take way too much dirt, ha.

Current in process build, first landing/berm in my backyard playground.

http://i813.photobucket.com/albums/zz55/shaggimo/Bike/LANDING_zps71b0b7d8.jpg

Still have another couple feet to go, goal is 6-6.5 feet tall, launch will be roughly 4-4.5 feet, maybe 8-10 gap, 45 degree hip. Should be fun when complete. cool

Re: RAMPS, Gates, Half pipes, Lets see what you built for BMX

I just came across this picture today of our half built halfpipe. We built this halfpipe in the backyard around 1990. When it was done it was a 16th foot wide wood ramp at one end and the other end was an 8 foot wide wood ramp and the next to that we would put our 8 foot wide steel framed ramp. The steal frame ramp could be quickly uncoupled and broken down and put on a trailer.

Had several ramps BITD - an 8' quarter-pipe, a kick-turn ramp (wedge ramp), and an indoor mini-half.  I'll have to dig out some photos of the first two and post those later.  The quarter is long gone, the wedge still exists but is need of repair, but the mini-half is still very rideable.  I spent some time at my parents' house this weekend cleaning up and repairing the ramp.  Cleaned ~20 years of dust off the ramp, replaced some rotted plywood on one of the decks, etc.  Built this ramp in ~'89 and rode it mostly until '92.  I've ridden it a few times in the past couple of years with my kids but now it's clean and ready to ride.  Enjoy!

Re: RAMPS, Gates, Half pipes, Lets see what you built for BMX

Made a little progress this summer, finally got the first three ready to ride (4th needs more attention). I guess this will be considered my warm up line, next year I'll build the bigger jumps, though my small property is the biggest limiting factor (I really need to find a spot, to build a real spot, lol).

No pics of them actually being ridden though, I ride alone most of the time neutral

I'm very lucky where I am, clay soil for a few feet at least, a half mile away, if you dig down 6 inches, you hit shale (tried building years ago in said spot).

Google "2010 Google Sea Otter Stunt."  I was careful to screen-grab the video information and not just the picture, so that people would know where it came from.  As far as posting links to mtb videos, I've noticed that bmxmuseum mods don't really care for it.  big_smile  lol

Re: RAMPS, Gates, Half pipes, Lets see what you built for BMX

After the city plowed my last spot, the godfather of Reno BMX invited me to build some stuff out where he builds.  This is the early work on turns 1,2 and 3 (3 is mostly hidden by 1) and when I find more recent pics I will post up the finished product.

Re: RAMPS, Gates, Half pipes, Lets see what you built for BMX

In 1983-ish, over Spring Break, my Dad, brother and I took the plans from the BMXA article and built this quarterpipe.  My Dad was an engineer at Boeing, so he added a few more items like removable wheels.  That came in handy when we were able to tow the ramp to our high school and perform in the talent show!

The ramp was also fun to run up and dunk on our hoop - that was the only way I was ever going to make that happen.........
