Re: 1985 Redline RL 20 II Restoration

Well, it has been awhile but its back from the Frame Doc.

Fork dropouts were bonked. Right before shipping off for the Army (88') I did a Miami Hopper and one of the bolts slipped out of the fork thus flexing and damaging the drop outs.

Before.

Gusset had a very slight hairline crack on the welds of both sided. Very hard to discern on the stripped frame but there were there. You could tell when the frame was painted.

Re: 1985 Redline RL 20 II Restoration

BTW...this was me on the same bike in the heyday. My wife was laughing at the gym shorts and socks.

http://i688.photobucket.com/albums/vv245/yarseyer/img009.jpg

At that time it had all the parts I previously laid out in this post, a DK stem, and chrome Nippon 883s.

Funny story about the Nippons. I moved to Virgina in and around June of 09. At the time I had no clue about the vintage BMX movement and didn't think twice about the RL 20 II in my fathers garage. I found the near mint F/R Nippons in an old box. I looked at them, thought to myself that I would never use these worthless things, and subsequently threw them out in the trash. So somewhere in a land fill there are a set of near mint chrome Nippons.

Re: 1985 Redline RL 20 II Restoration

Nice progress there.

I sent my Haro to the Frame Doc.

He is The Man for sure.

I would love to have a 20-II.

I can't wait to see it finished. cool
